Thread: What is with mask Scent and the skill tree
Guys,
Maskscent is based on Scouting skill only, so it doesn't matter what your Ranger level is.
Come on over to the Scout boards and tell us about your experiences. I'm trying to gather as much info on it as I can.

I agree that Maskscent issues should be discussed over on the Scouting board, but there appears to be something in the Ranger coding that is causing Maskscent to lose effectiveness as we progress up the Wayfaring branch.
I have a feeling that some lines of coding were not properly removed or editedwhen they migrated Maskscent wholey to the domain of Scouts.
Wayfaring II gives a +40 bonus (start of the conceal skill), which fits what dacal (and many others) are seeing. As our ranger level goes up, the detection does, too.
Yes as Delta said, post these problems on scout forum. I have had same bad experience with mask scent. I'm ranger 1,3.2.3, and my mask scent breaks more often then novice scouts in same group against creatures. I posted this on a thread in scout forum.
Im about to make wayfaring 2, so I'll pay attention to see if my mask scent is even worse. It's not to bad if I'm solo, but when grouped wiht scouts it breaks all the time. Just my observation.
I had WF3, my MS broke all the time. I just sold back all 3 of my WF skills to head omw to CH(got tired of not being able to run around in the wilderness getting killed). Now my MS almost never breaks.
Just my .02$
Almost master ranger who is reselling to become CH/Doctor/pistoleer.

Delta (and NRaas),
I have heard some rangers having problems with maskscent while others do not. I am one of those that has seen little to no problem with my ability breaking too much but then again I was a Master Ranger before "the big patch" came in. If the bug was instigated or introduced by an increase to the Wayfaring skill tree, then only those rangers who spent points on that tree since the patch would see it. Those of us who are done spending points would not see the bug and our /maskscent would be (and seems to be) working as intended.
This would also explain why un-training the tree would make /maskscent actually work better.
Thoughts?
