Thread: Artisan skills necessary for Ranger crafting?
I'm finally running out of skill points, and I need to unlearn unessential skills. Does the artisan trade actually have an impact on my trap, camp, and camo kit crafting? I currently have Artisan and 3 levels of on the leftmost branch of its skill tree. If I unlearn artisan am I going to notice a difference?

Yes and No, I gave up artisan a long time ago and now, in some very minor ways, I wish I kept it.
No, you don't need artisan to build anything in Ranger EXCEPT the recent addition of Camo Kits which need flora components, which require surveying or buying from an artisan or resource vendor.
To build your camps, etc. you will need steel so if you keep artisan you can get that too on your own.
The only other thing you need is a crafting tool and I would just hold on to your weapon, droid, gen. item crafting tool and you are good to go.
You can live without artisan, you just have to depend on others more.

- In the past, the Artisanskills were where scouts received their experimentations points.
- However, the developer is revamping the crafting system (starting with camo kits), and is now using skill mods within the Scout/Ranger line to define the experimentation points, rather than relying on some nebulous outside profession. ![]()
- So, directly, you don't need Artisan for crafting in the Ranger profession.
- However, as Phigon stated, you will need to retrieve the flora resources from somewhere... And the most effective way is through the use of harvesters (either your own, or purchasing from someone else).
