Thread: Rangers, I will see you when this class gets fixed!
Hey All:
I am now a troll on this forum.
Today, hunting Mountain Squillies:
08:51: You hide your scent from aggressive animals
08:52: A creature has detected you! Despite your attempts at camoflauge!
-ahem-
Said creature was a kreetle 50 meters away.
Um, I can't bear frustration in a game. Games are supposed to be fun. If they're not fun, I'm wasting my time.
The nerf patch on 09.08.03 is the only thing I didn't like about Ranger. Everything else I loved but camo and maskscent pulling killer animals from up to 100 yards away and 50% cut in harvests has made this class kinda weak, IMHO.
Since I have to do destroy missions to earn enough loot to keep going in the game, and killing gorgs for herb meat is boring, I dropped Ranger for the time being. I'm doing FP missions since the GCW is still fun.
I'll be trolling in here to see if the problems I reported in a few other posts have been fixed. Personally I know a few other Rangers on Starsider, including the one who crowned me Master Ranger, disappointed enough to drop the class in search of worthier pursuits.
I'll miss this forum, though, cuz the posters in the BH forum are 90% insane. (I picked up BH pistol line with the extra skill points).
Also I'll be checking to see if anything gets better. I know exactly how to advance in Ranger and if things are fixed I'll jump on it in a heartbeat.
(I swear this game is like a lemon Ferrari. Never loved / hated a game more than this. Usually a game just stinks and I don't play it, or is awesome and it obsesses me, but this one is extreme in both ways.)
On a totally unrelated note, though, I was reading aboutthis a game coming out called 'Horizons' in which you can be a dragon, but it takes a lot of patience and you have to live outdoors and hunt animals to eat, but you'll be weak to start. This sounds like exactly what a lot of people I've met in this forum are into, and if anyone wants to start a dragon class with me when it comes out, I'm sure we can help each other. Just hope a few things are thought through about that game that weren't in this. This is my first RPG so I'm not sure if others are any different, but I like it. Not trying to bash SWG, here, I'm still having lots of fun, just would like to try out that dragon class with some other people who like Ranger, since we seem to have the same mentality.

Oh yeah,
I guess I'll be trolling here a lot giving out leveling and hunting advice cuz Rangers is good people. And these posts are the best in these forums.
Heh, I say goodbye and find myself answering ten posts on how to do X, Y, Z

eep!
duhn duhn duhn, another one bites the dust!
sad news indeed. that's 2 master rangers on starsider dropping out of frustration in the past week. there is an expression that says 'it's the little things that kill'. Darkly humorous then, that a kreetle is what put you over the edge.
and after reading several of your posts, i don't think you would fit inwiththe bounty hunter community. on average, they are a very ''misunderstood'' lot. at least, that is what they would have you believe. some of them truly are convinced that bounty hunter is the most broken profession in the game, and don't appreciate a single thing they have going for them. 90% of them think that bounty hunter deserves to be better pistoleers, caribeeners, rifleman, and heavy weapons experts than the elite classes devoted to those individual weapons, simply because they have to master scout (sorry for run-on, but if you look again it makes sense). the worst part is when they come to troll the rifleman forum, and egg us on with posts like ''eyeshot owns rifle''.
it's just, you don't seem like an 'uber', and that is what most of them are. well, good luck ^_^)

Sorry to see you go.
Unfortuanately, I can't blame you for wanting to jump ship though. After seeing many other Rangers quit the profession and many of my freinds, in general, quiting the game outright. I am starting to get a might disheartened with the way things are going.
I couldn't agree with you more though. I absolutely love this game one moment (mostly love the "idea" and potential) , and I'm tearing my hair out, furious at some of the rediculas and illogical implementation the next moment.
I can only hope that things will get better in the future. With the new camps and traps, the more advanced tracking, the possiblity of having permenent Ranger lodges and maybe even harvester traps... With all those possible additions things could start looking up for us, the most Unelite, Elite profession.
I am a patient person... Hopefully I will be patient enough to still be here to welcome you back when/if things get fixed around here.
Till then, good luck with what ever you do.
Koroght gaghght takt,

Sorry to see you go
, I can understand your frustrations. I'm a few boxes away from master ranger. I have been working towards being a master ranger since the first day the game came out. I have dreamed about becoming a ranger when it was still in beta, so I'm not even close to giving up yet
. There are many things that are wrong with our profession and the game.. But I'm trying to stay very positive, because I absolutely love the "Idea" of a ranger and being able to explore and hunt. Overall, their are two different views. One is from this board, and the other are from people in game that don't check the board. When I read the ranger board it's very very very depressing with all the things that players are going through with our profession. Now when I'm in game I make it a point to talk to every ranger I see in game, and the experience overall is totally opposite. When I ask how they are liking the profession. I get the response " I love being a ranger, there are a few minor things wrong but overall I love being a ranger. " Anyway I respect your point of view and I hope you come back to the fold one day
, I'll also check out the game Horizon.
