First let me apologize to all for ranting so bad on my last post....I was a tad miffed as can be understood but hopefully I got some people thinking anyhow I have been reading the boards for a while now and one thing that I was curious about. Why can't Rangers use a scout blaster or for that matter scouts? without having to have the marksman pistol skill. Lets think about this one hehe the weapon is named after the scout class but I see no weapon qualifier under the skill tree. It would be very nice if this particular weapon qualification could at least be given at the master scout level for those of us that have no marksman or brawler skills. It just kinda makes sense.

I understand if maybe this seems like a low priority to most but for some that have similar set ups to my character I know it would be greatly appreciated. Just kinda stinks that as a Master Ranger (old school)/ Master Creature Handler the only weapons I can use are the same ones that a new character uses. AKA I still only use a cdef pistol. So pretty much what I have been doing is letting my pets do all the work for me which works but just seems weird that after mastering two different elite skill trees I am still no more effective in combat then a fresh recruit if my creature goes down. Anyhow just something to think about..like I said may not sound like much of importance to most but moving up from a cdef to a scout blaster would be great for me and I am sure there are other characters in same situation as mine.

should have 47 skill credits left

thats enough to take any of the ranged combat skills to the novice level (novice pistoleer etc) and take the far right column of marksman (its late and I cant remember what its called) up 3 boxes for warning shot

not saying a ranger only weapon wouldnt be nice... but the option to use something other then a cdef is there

Why is it everyone wants every profession to have everything every other profession has. You need to blend ur professions better and think of what you want your character to be able to do...and work to get it. I am a MCH, novice ranger (soon to be master) and novice pistolier. I had to drop my BE to do it but I am finding Ranger a lot more fun than BE...

So pick up a fighting profession and stop asking why the grass is so much greenier.. (is that a word?)

Im gonna have to agree with Maxanto im afraid. You seem to want the best of ALL worlds.....the problem is - if you want to use a pistol, you have to increase your pistol skills....simple as that. To me, your logic that

"seems weird that after mastering two different elite skill trees I am still no more effective in combat then a fresh recruit "

Is kinda flawed - for a start you ARE more effective in combat, you just can't use better pistols......because better pistols are for people who've spent points in that field.

From your post I just get the general idea that you want everything...you want your ranger bonuses, you want your pets (which are a huge combat bonus) and you want to use better weapons too....... You also seem to ignore all other ranger varieties... melee, rifle etc - I mean no offence to you withmy post - but it does sound very selfish.

This is the design of the game. If you want to use pistols better, learn pistol skills.

Rangers are not a "combat" profession, per say. We are a support profession, and all of our skills and abilities are geared towards that end.

If Smugglers, Commandos, and Bounty Hunters get combat abilities and weapon certifications, it's becuase those professions are founded on one or both of the basic combat professions and those abilities and certs are just an extention of that.

That, or use those 47 extra points to fill in the medic class so you don't have to worry about your pets dying. .

I believe it's called a scout blaster because it's light and quick.

Actually i believe the Scout Blaster gets its name from it being the standard sidearm of the military scouts. Light and fast, easily concealed and reloaded, and not encumbersome when you are treking off into the shrubbery looking for someone/something. Scouts arent expected to do much fighting, only self defence, so they get a little gun.

I agree with you as far as working on weapons skills is possible but the flaw with that theory is this if per say I choose to use my remaining points on medic skills to say heal my pets then I am still stuck reason being even though I have two elite professions mastered when I pull missions the game only gives me 300 credit ones because it doesnt take pets into consideration when choosing mission difficulty level. For instance even with a bull rancor out and grouped with me I still only can pull newbie missions. The reason I would like to see a high level weapon for ranger is it would alleaviate that unless they can recode the terminals to take pets into consideration when figuring out the difficulty of the missions given. Along with that when I say there should be a weapon for the class I am not saying that they should add abilities to the class only qualification with a weapon system better then cdef. They may have fixed that though as they recently added the republic blaster into the game and I bought one it does great damage only problem is its bugged atm. Even though I show qualified with the weapon It tells me I am not hopefully they will fix that in the near future.
