Thread: Wayfaring idea
This is just something I was thinking about and I thought I'd run it past my fellow Rangers.
Currently Terrain Negotiation is +0-50 Slope Movement (totally the domain of Scouts!) and +50-100 Crawl Speed (totally the domain of Rangers!?).
I think we are all in agreement that crawling faster is not the most elite ability we could have got with Ranger.
So my idea was this...
Scout Profession: +0-25 Slope Movement and +25-50 Crawl Speed = +50 Terrain Negotiation
Ranger Profession: +50-75 Slope Movement and +75-100 Crawl Speed = +50 Terrain Negotiation
I don't understand why it wasn't implemeted like this in the first place?!
Using these rules, a Master Scout would have 50% of a Rangers Slope Movement and Crawl Speed while Rangers would rightfully have the maximum Slope Movement and Crawl Speed.
I know this would stick in the craw of many Scouts, but can you possibly think it is reasonable that the Elite Ranger profession cannot navigate terrain better than a Master Scout?! All we should get for our efforts is Super Crawling Speed?! ![]()
So nobody has an opinion on this?
None of those upset about us not being able to move over land any faster than a scout want to chime in? I know I've seen more than a few posts on the subject.
No one (Scouts? Bounty Hunters? Creature Handlers?) want to flame the hell outta this idea?
I thought is was a pretty sound idea, guess I was wrong. ![]()
- I like the idea... I just usually wait for everyone else to pipe in with their opinions before I make a move.
- I presume by the silence, that no has any really big issue with this idea.
- I would still like to see some grander changes to the use of Terrain Negotiation than crawling speed. ![]()
Well, if this idea were implemented and possibly a faster refresh or longer duration on our Burstrun, I would be pretty content with the Ranger Terrain Negotiation.
There have been a number of occasions when I hit burst-run accidentally and then had to be really careful as to not need to use it until I am no longer tired.
So, essentially we would get burst-run "points". They, like HAM, get depleted (in the act of burst running). In order to utilize burst-run, our action HAM has to be atleast a certain value or percentage of value. If our HAM meets the criteria, we would then be able to expend these burst-run points until they are depleted and cannot use it until the points (which restore like our own HAM) accumulate to a certain minimum level.
"What about rangers being able to run faster in general, not just up hills but a general speed increase?"
- That would be a nice improvement, and fits with the concept already established for Terrain Negotiation. ![]()
