too many "moron" Masters or wanna bes roaming around, with no clue about anything other than how to grind

I plan to advance to novice Ranger/Rifleman/CH by the end of the week, it comes easily just by grouping. After that I fully intend to spend the large majority of my time solo, in the middle of nowhere, just hunting, finding out spawn areas, testing different weapons on different creatures etc, its more fun to KNOW the profession your mastering, rather than just blast it out of the way to get a Jedi.
You can guarentee that the bloke who did his holo-professions as if he intended to keep each and every one of them for the time he was playing the game, will totally outclass any other Jedi character with his, because he knows more about the game, and will have taken far more time to learn how to use his Jedi as he advances.

Don't bother posting to this one, he's already dropped Ranger and onto the next prof.

They're making ID ridiculously hard to master in the next patch, to reflect their new singular ability to migrate stats. Without a diatribe on how ridiculous that is in the first place, I'll just say that once Ranger has a worthwhile skillset to master, the "grind" will be as hard as it was before crafting gave you wilderness survival XP.

Huzzah to that. One of my friends who is on the hologrind is looking at it just like that.. As an opportunity to learn more about the game, and experience more. He's pointed out how many weaponsmiths do not use some extremely useful enhancements for one reason or another, and coming from MRM, he knows exactly what he wants from his rifles, and can deliver the same quality to others. He's actually decided to keep one of his holo-professions when it's all said and done, and I don't doubt he'll be one of the ranking Jedi on the server once he finally gets there.

Ranger, albiet a little bit time consuming, has to be in the top 3 EASIEST professions to master. Buffed and in a full set of 85% kinetic comp, I have raised from 4044 scout (then decided to do ranger) to 2244 ranger in under 4 hours. Just went out with a jedi pal, and killed rancors. PHAT harvests, and I've gained about 35k hides during this time, and will be able to just grind tents to master in a few hours time.

From the viewpoint of XP it is indeed simple to master. But learning what drops what, hunting spots, creatures and such to truely become a Master Ranger takes a lot longer.

Yeah hey..... actually I haven't even mastered it quite yet. I've had a death in the family and didn't get to play much at all. Interesting story with my experience as a ranger....
Before player cities came into the game, I was infact.... a ranger! Loved it, and decided to give it up when i became a mayor on my server. Actually had the first city dropped on Dantooine on my server. Anyway, soon after I dropped ranger, I used my holocron.....RANGER!!! So I decided I wouldn't mess with it..... but did. I had only begun to learn about the mechanics of ranger, and the nature of the animals and such. so my second try at ranger still wasn't going well. Over the course of about a month, with very little hunting time available, I had NEARLY mastered ranger. About that time, I made a bit of a pact with some of my best mates that we wouldn't chase holocrons any more and would stick to more teamwork oriented PvP. I dropped immediately, built up some other skills, and went to taking bases and playing as a political rebel leader....kinda fun.
Anyway, fast forward to last Wed. I decided with another friend of mine that since the whole city thing had died down, and we weren't out raiding bases any more, that we should try doing holo's together. Se here I am. I've always loved ranger, and the statement about ranger being so much more than what to grind on is very very VERY true. Once this whole jedi bit dies down, I will most likely pick ranger back up, as it really is a fun profession (albiet one with much needed love.) Had I not become more of a veteran to the game, I wouldn't make for a good ranger. That's really what it takes , is a lot of experience in game.
Anyway... I wasn't bragging, or yapping off, or trying to diss the ranger prof. It get's much love from me. I was really just excited that it was going so much better for me this time, and frankly it's encouraged me to come back to it after I *crosses fingers* get that jedi of mine.

Listen 'ear yunen's. In my day....
We roasted mashmellos 'round the campfur and sang out hearts out in /tells.
We skinned all them critters and crafted traps that we actually used.
If ya git caught trying to buzz them aminals that give out xp twile you are a burst runnin' wit yur camo on. Why, they flat out chewd yer bum off.
We dug in the dirt fur food. And we eit it too. Ceptin' the bait. That I gave to me first hubby. Rest is soul.
We wud ave a big howdown, and cook up sum special camo stew. Needed help with that. Sum of those berries and grains we a bit hard to come by.
Off wit ya now...I needs me a nap.
