Thread: Is anyone else having Mask Scent/Camo constantly break?

Sherioushly here. I'm a Master Ranger with +17 MS/+17 Camo clothing, and in the past week, both of these have been breaking so much it's like I have my own invisible kreetle entourage. On some planets with huge populations of agro creatures, like Dathomir, I can see it--it's that many more rolls of the RNG, that many more chances for it to break.

But Tatooine? Lok? *Talus?* I don't think I've had Mask Scent or Camo wear off naturally instead of breaking since the CU went live. And in some places, creatures are attacking me though MS doesn't break (though it's on Kashyyyk, so that may be by design, though their equally agro buddies two inches away ignore me).

...should I change deoderants?

Have I just had a week full of really bad luck?

Nope - I've noticed the same thing, esp. on Kashyyyk.I'm trying to rework my hunting outfit though and I haven't had time to get a version with the scent panels installed,so I thought that it might have something to do with that, but if you have scent panels and you'reseeing the same then maybe the devs reduced thesuccess rate. Don't have any quantatative data to back this up though....

One thing that I've noticed on Kashyyyk, though, is that the critters like to stalk your creature mount. Sometimes they won't detect me, but will attack my mount. I never have my mount grouped, but I suppose if you have your mount grouped and it gets agro'ed then you could be drawn into combat as well? (just a theory).

I've had my mount killed on Kashyyyk once or twice. (Cu pa, I don't have room for my varactyl until I can adopt out my falumpaset.) I haven't taken my alt there yet, but on Tatooine, my mask scent is about as effective as his--and he's only 2000 Scout.

Dunno if it is random or what, but, for my MRifleman/Ranger0010 I noticed this from the past few days:

Trip across Dathomir last night, maskscent broke within 1km of leaving outpost. Maybe 2 or 3 mask scent type scout XP notes in combat log.

Trip across Dathomir this morning, going in same direction, mask scent stuck for a good 3km, I clocked up 20k scout XP from MS evasions.

Trip across Dathomir tonight, broke round about 1.5km from outpost, no XP. Stored the bike and went back to shoot rancor. Mask held well enough for me to be able to sit and recharge while three or four rancor (CL60-70) walked over me, oblivious to the food smelling chunk underfoot.

On the trip back, about 5k in XP but then I fell asleep and flew into a tree. Baz nitch chewed on me (for 118 damage a time) for a while, after it had done that a lot my mask scent eventually fell over and a spider ate me.

In short, mask scent is nuts.

I am noticing that my mask scent/cammo are almost pointless. They are detected by all mobs rather quickly. I used to drive through dath just for the easy scout xp from mask scent.

I have not noticed any difference in my mask/camo breaking. I *have* noticed that when it does break I immediately get aggro'd now, whereas previously if I stood motionless I could get away with it until I could re-apply.

I was in the Rryat trail yesterday. A herd of CL50 creatures were in front of me, and the first message that I got was "a creature has detected you despite your attempts to conceal."

Um, I'm a Master Ranger. Does that not count for anything anymore anywhere?

Our attempts to conceal are still bring *slightly* hampered by our lack of a Kashyyykian camo kit though

I would say constantly and consistantly. I have +30 in maskscent and camo clothes, and I get agroed all the time as a level 80 Master Ranger/Master Carbineer by creatures that are level 60 and below. It's rediculous actually.

Camo does jack lately, I made a kit of 14 charges at the science outpost before leaving for the village and after the first 2 was detected in less than the first Km, I stopped purposefully every time to reapply it asap. Before I even reached the village I used up all 14 charges. That's nuts, on the other hand for some freakish reason on the way back the first one lasted for about 4km, but then again I barely got any xp, I assume because of the lag creatures spawned way behind me, so there was nothing to break it. Before CU it wasn't this bad on detection, sure it was very rare to go to the village or come back and still have conceal on, but it happened here and there. Now, it's like totally useless.

Try crawling thru them. Seriously. I just posted about this on the Kashyyyk thread, but I found that crawling through those hugh herds of Headsmashers (or whatever they're called), Moufs, etc seems to work REALLY well. I watch the uber l33t crowd go streaking through, trailing all sorts of aggro behind them, getting killed - and I just keep a crawlin' thru with maskscent up, and raking in the XP. It's a beautiful thing being a patient Ranger.

I could not believe how well my mask scent was working on Kashyyk last night.I was trying to do the Jagged Fang quest to get my MCH veractyl and was able to walk right past all the veractyls, including Jagged Fang, unfortunately you can not snag an egg until you defeat Jagged Fang. And with Ranger and CH as my only skills I was no match, my CL68 pet fell to CL55 Jaged Fang in about 5 seconds.

After several failed attemptswith different pet combos I /mask and walked back out past all the veractyls again. It did break on the last one, but it was in a cluster of 5-6, with that many simultanious checksa break is expected (hence why kreetles were so effective before the great kreetle nerf of 05.)I still find it funny to walk amonst the herd of reds with 2 kimogillas, a falumpaset, a droid, and an assault trooper without anything seeing us. * waves hand - "This is not the parade you are waiting for." *

Almost forgot - No Bio Clothes or AAs last night. Pure ranger.
