Ranger Archive
Thread: Well, so long, happy trails, sayonara, cheery bye....
I've settled on MR + MBH (or just possible that am going to flick that over to carbines) as this leaves me with enough SP to keep my vendors going and, while it'd be nice to keep Ranger I can't justify the investment of that many SP into lines that don't give me any offence/defence mods or any combat specials.
Sure, at MR and MBH I get to use some nice weapons, but it really is the mods and attacks that swung it.
So, am I thru with Ranger?
Not by a long chalk. I'll be keeping a Ranger on Wanderhome, partly for the GRM's, partly cos he's actually just about able to look after himself now and its fun ( he's still low enough level that I can take him for a run across the planet and find stuff he can kill for XP).
My Ranger, Ozie, will be staying on TC. Hopefully he'll get a chance to be involved in testing a ranger revamp one day. (Once I get back on TC, lol. I broke my install and need to work out whats gone wrong)
There may also be a mysterious BH who has enough ranger to be able to track...

so long hopefully we'll still see you's on this board, passing on your pearls of wisdom ![]()

I feel pretty much the same as you at the moment.
I've also respec'd out of ranger completely. I'm not making it as official until such a time that the respec period is over and I haven't reclaimed any ranger boxes. I'm surprised, I always said I'd keep as ranger, but then I truely saw how much the combat revamp (no, it isn't an upgrade) has messed things up.
I know we wanted to wait for our ranger revamp rather than having a quick fix, but come on, they have givenus combat level status. Surely it wasn't a huge disruptive leap to at least give us some defence mods.

Nah, I'll not be away fom the boards. "Ethically" I had to make sure that I had at least one Ranger somewhere in the galaxies, so I got busy during the XP boost period and did a bit of creative respec'ing to make sure I've got two (at least) on Live and one, possibly two on TC.
Bit weird on Bria last night tho, ran into another regular player and had a chat. I mentioned I'd dropped Ranger and he was like "What? Are you quitting? The CU's not THAT bad... " LOL.
Anyhow, anyone on Bria fancies toodling about WookieeWorld, or can use an extra gun on a hunt, drop me a tell. I'm out having F.U.N. for a change instead of sweating bullets trying to get stacks of resources for daft docs and crazy architects.
Sad to see the old brit go bud ![]()
Glad you are going to be around here still though which is all im bothered about. Hopefully once the revamp gets to TC and you get your install fixed we will be back on for more hunting together.
Now, if you respec to master rifles, master carbineer, 0404 BH.... well, then you're just copying me!
Actually, I really love my new combat template.. tons of specials, high damage attacks and state effects, and two different strafe attacks. Best of all, I still have a scout based profession, so I can harvest a little and put down basic camps.
But, I still have two other rangers.. I respeced my TC ranger for rifle boxes, since it's easier to get scout xp than rifles xp. But I'll remaster ranger again there, and have a ranger to test and another one for WH ranger meets.
I've done the same thing, almost exactly. Funny thing is I can't stay away from these forums, I guess ranger is more a way of thinking than a title floating above your head. I wouldn't have dropped ranger except for the fact that I realized the skills I use most come from scout, sure I'll miss thelarger harvest. But it just means I'll have to hunt a bit longer, is that a bad thing? Also, I've beenwanting to try something new for a while, if my mining and vendors don't pay off, I'll be back to ranger as quick as I can pick up my ranger hat.(oh, wait we dont have those yet)
BTW I'll never respec into a ranger box, they are just too much fun getting the old way, earning them. Even the old method of camping was too fun to grind. Here's hoping for a quick ranger revamp that brings value backto the profession.
