Thread: Rangers: Most powerful profession?

I'm not a ranger, and I'm not trolling for flames here, this is an honest question/concern:

Aren't Rangers the most powerful (in a combat sense) profession in SWG?

I say this because, the other day, I was on with 2 other friends. We're all 3 in the master marksman level, and then have different additional skills. We're all 3 decent combatants. We ran into an enormous turtle-looking creature, and it whooped our butts pretty quick. We licked our wounds and went home.

Then, the next day in town, we see a Ranger walking around with one of these gigantic turtles for a pet!

Moral of the story: The Ranger, alone, is more powerful than me and my 2 friends with our pistols, carbines, rifles, fists, armor, expertise, tactics, and healing.

I'm sorry if I sound negative, but I really think this isn't equitable, and should be fixed. A master Ranger should be powerful, but not more powerful than a group of master warriors combined... know what I mean?

I think you are confusing the Ranger with the Creature Handler. Rangers can't have pets unless they are also trained as Creature Handlers.

That's Creature Handler - and what's better is they can have multiple pets like that. I kind of tossed the idea of playing one, but I realized this was going to be the bandwagon class (not saying there aren't people that simply love the idea of it) and refused to pick it for this reason

It has been my experience that when the devs see that 80% of the population has taken a particular hybrid profession, it is going to get the nerf bat. When only the players who really are die hard rangers, or "dont wanna be like EVERYBODY else and be a creature handler" are picking ranger.. it will get looked at and boosted for balance. It may not happen tomorrow, but someday the master rangers will laugh at the herds of llamas who change to ranger cause it was suddenly l33t while CH is nerfed so bad that the only thing you ever see come out of pocket is a paralope or something.

not only ishe a Creature Handler you should know he had to tame the gigantic turtle as a baby and train him which take hours or longer. also when the pet dies its gone for good and he has to start over.

But Rangers will be better at taking down animals but not humanoid, ranger traps will not work on them.
