Thread: New Player Concerns
1st wanna say that I am just now working up the scout tree only had the game 4 days. Wanted to be 100% sure that these statements are correct before I invest a lot of time and am unhappy with my class decisions.
1) Maskscent does not mask u from other pc's. I thought this would be great pvp.
2) Traps do not work on pc's hence makign them useless pvp, dont even work on ch's pets.
3) Track does not work at all? or definitely doesnt work on other pc's?
4) Running speed is always constant unless runnign up terrain.
I envisioned a good pvp class here, guess I was way off. I would appreciate a response verifying what has been said above, if so I will in no way pursue this profession any further as I want to enjoy pvp.
How can you say "it is all good?" We are hardly better at travel, cannot track, have mostly unimproved camps, meager camouflage, broken creature-only traps and just two of them at that, and incomplete forage... you are too easily satisfied, my friend. Look at a Ranger in any other game and tell me that the SWG Ranger is fine as it is. And yes, I think it is okay to compare, because their description of the Ranger for this game fits the usual template; but the abilities lag behind.
Don't play ranger if you want to be a PvP god. It offers nothing in that regard. It sounds like you should play CH or BH. IMO, the main reason to play ranger is to be cool, unique, independant and sexah! ![]()

1) Correct, it only works against creatures and you only receive Scouting experience if it succeeds against agressive creatures.
2) Correct, traps only work on creatures.
3) There is no tracking.
4) Correct with the exception of Burst Speed. Scouts and Rangers (Rangers are better at it) get longer and longer Burst Speeds as they advance.
Does this mean Scouts and Rangers are not a good PvP class? Depends on the player. Personally, I can imagine a Master Ranger tucked safely away in a group of higher level red agressive creatures a real nightmare in PvP. I mean, what are you going to do, run into the agro rangeof that group of 6 nasty creatures to get him?
