Thread: How do you get the most exp from Survival and Traps?
What is the best way to get to most and fastest amount of exp for Survival and traps??
I appreciate your input.

Trapping is easy.
Find a very slow mob (Durnis on corellia are great for this) and make a TON of wire mesh traps.
Run around the mob spamming wire mesh traps. The Wire Mesh traps are the only ones I know of that you can throw 5 in a row and get EXP for it 5 times. Durnis give you 50 xp per trap; I've heard there are mobs that can give you 100+.
Anyways, just spam Wire Mesh traps. If you want something even EASIER... get to Trapping 3, and build 2 Phenocide and 8 Wire Meshes. Set your traps so that you throw 1 phenocide, 4 meshes, 1 phenocide, 4 meshes. Phenocide snares them, and the after throwing the four meshes the snare wears off, in time for the next phenocide injection.
How about survival anyone have a good way for this?

On Trapping Exp, There is about a 6 second timer on each trap. So if you through a bone spur trap and it affects a creature, you can not get exp from another Bone Spur trap for approximately 6 secs. However, if you through another type of trap, say a Noise Maker, you can get exp immediately for this trap. So, I am currently working on the Ranger Trap III, because I hunt with a group that would rather me throw traps than attack with a weapon, so I created a punch bar with has 4 traps on it. I through each trap in order across the top of my bar, by the time the 4th has landed, I can throw the 1st one again. Of course, this works well in a group hunting mobs with lots of HAM. When I solo hunt, I keep to throwing a Bone Spur followed by a warning shot, followed by a Noise Maker, followed by two to three headshots. I get a lot of Trapping Exp and suffer relatively light wounds even on animals that are a yellow con using this method.
On Survival Exp, The High Quality Ranger camp seems to be a rather odd behaving camp. With Improved Camp, you can max exp two ways, 1)Have the visitors raised above 40 or 2)Have roughly 25 wound points healed over 15 minutes. Enterainers also seem to boost exp but I really have had mixed results with this. Either way the minimum camp time for 1120xp is 15 minutes, roughly capping out at 20 minutes. Now the HQ Camp, you can actually leave the camp and travel a short distance way without it disbanding as long as you follow two rules: 1) you must have spent longer time in camp than away from it and 2) you can not enter combat. It seems that the duration a ranger camp is up also affects exp, but it seems that camp does not max exp until about 45 minutes. Also, you must have about 50+ visitors AND have healed a significant amount of wounds (close to a party wipe out). I have gotten as much as 1200 exp from a HQ Ranger camp, when I had a wander come into the camp with nearly completely BLACK stat bars. It took 3 hours to completely heal him (including using my FA IV skill), and I gained about 1200 exp every 30 minutes.
Anyway, I hope this helps. If any one finds an easier sure fire method of gaining Survival Exp, please post it because, I have about 160,000 exp left to go to max out my ranger frontiering skill.
just a quick tip for gaining some survival XP..
When you are playing SWG and need to take a dump or cook dinner or whatever, find a safe place to camp and set up, kick off your armor and have a seat.. mark yourself as AFK if you get a lot of tells, etc. Then go take your dump or eat your dinner. That will pass the time for max xp faster so you can 'accomplish' something in the game when you are not actually playing it. But you can still feel good that you didn't use a cheesy marco to gain xp. Plus the time you spend in camp is usually good enough to heal a substantial amount of wounds, including mind wounds. (not BF though)

If you want Trap XP by the truckload...
Go to Talus...
Find a group of Mountain Kimas (the yellow ones, not the Red Kimas)... make yourself a TON of traps of various kinds.... then start throwing traps..
Kimas = level 19 version of Tabages... I was getting 165 trap xp for each trap thrown.... and I was going through 25 traps for each Kima .... (they have a lot of hp, but the key is not to kill them so fast, but to just keep cranking on trap xp)...
So each mountain kima was giving me: 4125 trap xp....
I literally had to stop after 5 kimas because I ran out of traps and hides to make them, but still it was close to 20,000 trap xp just for those 5 kimas. Not to mention 1000 weapon skill, 100 combat skill and 165 scouting skill per kill. (I use a really low level weapon to make the combat last longer)
Wilderness xp? I leave my computer on while I'm watching my favorite TV programs, and get up and go start a new camp every commercial break... OOOooohhh.. Exciting.....
Make sure you do some sort of activity macro while you're afk... I do sample/tendDamage/maskscent

i have tried the visitors thing. it does not work if you are the only visitor to your own camp.
