OK, I am a TKM/MCH. I would like to change to MRanger/MCH but I have trouble getting trapping exp. None of my traps work on my level creatures (I am lvl 73). If I use traps on lower lvl creatures i get 1 xp point. Do i need to ditch skills to get a lower CL or is there another way to get trapping exp>?
Thx in advance.

The way trapping XP was calculated changed significantly with Publish 20 from a (player CL)
Creature CL) basis to (Player TL)
Creature CL) basis.
In general, your CL doesn't matter, it's your TL that's the important number (at least for trapping purposes)
From GrandPop's message inthe Scout forum
Novice scout - CL 5 TL 5
Trapping 1 CL 10 TL10
Trapping 2 CL 20 TL15
Trapping 3 CL 30 TL20
Trapping 4 CL 40 TL30
Master scout CL 50 TL50
Novice Ranger TL50
Ranger Trap 1 CL 60 TL60
Ranger Trapping 2 CL 70 TL70
Ranger Trapping 3 CL 80 TL80
(Lithium messes that table up again I'll do it as a gif to d/l)
Player TL is your Trapping Skills Modifier, as listed in the My Skills section of the character skillsheet (Ctrl+S). This is basically the level of Trapping Skill that you have earned through progression within scout/ranger plus any modifiers from food, tapes, clothing/armour attachments, etc.
If you trap creatures AT your TL you will get Trapping XP. If you trap creatures significantly higher than your TL you may find that more traps miss than hit, and if you trap significantly lower than your TL you wil gain less XP (similar to the way attacking creatures below your CL works).
As a solo player you can lead off with a trap to draw a creature out of a pack, then snare it/stun it before doing as much damage as you can before the snare wears off. Reapply snare, rinse, wash, repeat. Don't be too proud to kite. Watch your back in case you are running into trouble tho
As a group player. Make sure the group understands and is happy that you are there to get trapping XP and nothing else. Throw traps. Don't do ANYTHING else. Once one trap sticks, throw another of a different type. Keep doing this till the beasty is dead.
OR get a friend to tank and just keep hammering traps into the one critter till you cap / run out of traps / get tired and need a break.
Loads of ways to get XP. Plenty of other suggestions in the forums too.
Best of luck.
