Thread: what if...? (master ranger skill)

master rangers had the ability to burst run as long as they wanted and if they wanted to stop they just had to press the burst run button again, no need for mounts unless you really wanted one and you could evade anything almost.

this would make ranger alot more worth it for the points it takes and it still pales in comparison to doctor buffs, and doctors take the same points up.

nice....a little TOO nice. I would like to be able to stop burst running and therefore be able to burst again sooner though.

I'd love it, but it's probably game-unbalancing. Melee Rangers (like me) would be able to catch anyone, and ranged players would be destroyed. Granted, that's PVP, and you probably are suggesting only to have higher flat-land speed when not in combat. No animal would be able to catch a kiting Ranger, either. And I would be able to keep up with those darn giant-pekos (flyers) when they run from me. No...I'd be too powerful...

Hopefully the devs will include terrain negotiation skills in determining mount's speed, so we'll still have some advantage over non-scouts in travelling. Otherwise, any chicken-rider's gonna outdo us in the mountains...

Rangers need a Trot command.

We should be able to run faster than anybody in the Galaxy since we spend all out time out in the wilderness.

I hate it when a Novice Artisan can keep up with a Master Ranger on level ground.

Sure we can run up a hill faster but come on having every body from Novice Entertainer to Master Architect being able to keep up with me running across FLAT ground is stupid.

TROT command should last about 5 min and have 5 min intervals.

That’s my 3 cents.

i thought about melee destroying everything in pvp, so maybe u should only be able to auto attack while in this burst run mode

it would be just as game breaking as mounts will be if they even are, cept with no charge

what about a peace-only skill (no overt or faction TEF allowed) that let you run at a fraction of burst run speed, i cant remember how much of a speedup burstrun is, but how bout letting us run at half the increase for, say.. 3 minutes?

then have a downtime of 10 minutes.

that would let most rangers cross the distance in the wilderness to and from missions, lairs, POI's etc without letting them gain an edge in any kind of PVP.

ideally, this bonus would be incurred on the rangers group with the same restrictions. talk about something that would help rangers get into groups.

Why not give rangers the ability to lour a targeted creature towards them with out initiating combat. It could be used to get a social creature away from the "flock" before killing it, or to bring a creature to a place where rangers group had set up an ambush. If the ranger had to get close to, use the ability it would give another benefit to mask sent.

I like Guys' idea. Everyone can have a mount when they come out and anyone on mount can fire a weapon, but they are restricted to basic attacks with horrible accuracy.

What would be so unbalancing for Rangers to get an Improved Speed ability that can be toggled on and off, but while on it would restrict us to basic attacks with horrible accuracy? No different than owning a mount, except maybe we would be abit slower...

I really like the /jog or /trot command.

you can use /jog while on foot and /trot while mounted. That way we can get to those thingies that we track before they unspawn.

actually, /jog wouldn't really cut it since people only walk in rare circumstances.. as people are running their small buns off as it is, it should be something closer to /runlikehell

/runlikehellbutnotquiteasfastasburstrunning

heh, too long of a command

personally, i think that burst run recycle should be like 30 seconds for a master ranger. that's um, 30 seconds from the time you are tired, not from the time you start it. and we wouldnt' be able to kite anything in the game... i don't know how many time's you've been slain by big cats and dogs when burst-running away, but it's happened to me plenty of times. there's alot of creatures out there that can keep up with burst.
