I have no idea what happened there. My question is: is it up to us as Rangers to bring it to the attention of the powers that be that fishing is the most awful, excrutiating, painful, non-intuitive, brutal, unprofitable, etc. etc. thing a person can do in game. I really want to help my guild out, and we have people who need fish, and being a ranger and all with good tents and maskscent etc. I'm pretty much the person upon whom this thankless and joylesstask falls (wich is why I'm posting here). I am of the opinion, however, after trying fishing for many hours, that the game would be better if fishing was removed in its entirity and never spoken of again rather than allowing it to continue to exist in its current form. Anyone else get roped into doing this god-awful chore? Anyone know who or what or how fishing might be made into something slightly less mind numbing?

what happened? your focus went to the 'submit post' button (tab) and each time you press space you post, so if you type fast enough and short words, you can spew out 2-3 posts before the board loads the next page or warns you about identical posts.

yes, i agree fishing is too inefficient, BE's need 25 fish per pet stim D, you feel like getting a BE 1250 fish to make a crate of stims? guess not.

My suggestion:

-Make gains from fishing be inline with medium sized creatures OR
-Make fish requirements more inline with what you get when fishing

-Make +harvest bonus add to the amount of fish you get when filletting a fish

-Make it possible to build (either by Architects like it is now or by Rangers) a fish trap, we call them 'katiska' in finland, it's like a little cage, shaped like an apple or aheart when seen from above with a small opening where the fish go in, and then they cant find their way out. The next morning you can 'harvest' the trap for the fish in it.

Hmm.. Apparently there's no better name than 'fish trap' in english so let's call it that.

Fish Trap

Requirements: novice ranger or novice architect

Ingredients: 50 metal

End result:Fish "harvester" 2kg/hour, 100 capacity, maintenance like a personal harvester

Placeable: In knee-high water, like on the banks of rivers and in shallow rivers. non-collidable structure, minimum distance between traps, 64m

What do you think?

Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a total mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

If they DO make that Fish Trap/Harvestor into an actual feature please ask them to do the same for milk. Hook your pet up to the milker and by the next day you have several units ready for the happy Bio-Engineers and Chefs.

Guys,

I've kinda taken over on the fishing thing- it was a prominent feature of the last Scout list of issues. Go over to the Scout boards and check on my "list to the Devs" if you want to see more. It's stickied to the top of the forum.

I would say Fishing is a Scout/Ranger issue because it grants survival xpwhen successful,as well as a BE issue as they are about the only ones who use fish in great quantities.

Tell the BE to carry his un-happy lil butt out there to fish. I don't fish, never have, and unless someone is willing to pay the proverbial "mad credits" for fishies, I am not gonna start.

I am willing and able to get odd requests for feathers, nostrils, left big toes, earwax from a rancor, but fish... no one is stopped from fishing. They wanna complain bout the lack of xp, I stopped getting xp for harvesting a while back, yet I still am expected to have piles of hide/bone and meat when someone needs it.
