Thread: Ranger/Rifle Soloability
Hi there.
I was wondering what kind of experience you guys have had lately with soloing as a Ranger/Rifleman, do you solo krayts, or are you restricted to durnis, or somewhere in between?
Thanks!
Rumor has it the next big patch will include changes to the agro code, so conceal/surprise shot might become an effective solo method (right now it's send in the cat and start flushing volley once it secures the target's agro). But your ability to solo big things will more likely be due to use of rifleman abilities (conceal shot specifically) until ranger gets some help with its trapping and camping line. As it stands, you won't get anything to stick on a Krayt, and it will be questionable if would help anyway (having a ranged attack and all).
I used an unsliced T21 (don't have the stats handy but it's not remarkable) with a +min/max damage powerup and phecnacine darts. I did have to get them alone...no idea how social they are and didn't try to find out.
I'm also a 2-2-1-4 Creature Handler though, and usually I just send in a pet, bleed everything that agros and then headshot what the pet's hitting, since Riflemen currently can't deal with social mobs very well. That is supposedly going to change Real Soon Now.
you can hold your own but you cant get cocky and go charging in. you should have an idea about your target, do they pack assist etc.these thingsyou only learn through experience through encounters and dying so you understand how to be a more effective hunter.
For example, if you arehunting pickets on Dantooine, look for a nest that is made up of all females or a nest that only has one male. use conceal shot on the male first and takehim down, then take the rest out at your leasure as femalesdont pack assist. If thereis more than one male, dont bother unless you have a pet. there are of course, waysaround this but its more productiveto just track and look for another herd of females.
The short of it is, if you're up against npc's, you can hold your own. If you are up against creatures that dont pack assist, you can hold your own. If you are up against pack assisted creatures, you better have a pretty good plan. If you're trying to solo JediMasters,I hope you like walking lots esp with the CH patch on the way.
