Thread: Top Five Debate
"No, what he's saying is that should the Devs implement my suggestion, he'd like to make sure that the data displayed in the view is correct."
- Ah thank you for correcting me. ![]()
"Another example could be additional commands ranger pets could be trained in like "fetch" for the lazy harvester or "scatter" to get clustered mobs to move apart (and out of social range), or "herd" to get them closer together for AE attacks."
Those are some sweet ideas.
I would suggest bringing them up with the Creature Handler coorespondent. ![]()
I agree with the top 3 just mentioned... harvesting being the most important, i must disagree with the earleir post that suggested being able to harvest all 3 types of organics from a mob with the penalty of getting less per type. If I was killing a peko-peko for its hide, and im expecting to get around 30units/harvest, i would not want to sacrifice this valuable(depending of course on ql) to get some bone and meat... now this is a good idea if some changes were made to the amount of units/harvest. Dont get me wrong but i would be really mad if this was implemented, usually im hunting a specific creature for a specific resource.
As far as differentiating between scouts and rangers as far as harvesting goes, I can tell a difference on the amount of organics I harvest... and I wish with all my heart that changes would be made to the effect of increasing the ql of things harvested by a ranger. At first I thought this might be to difficult to program, but know Ive changed my mind and I dont think it would be very hard to add a percentage of ql to all the properties of the organic, on the wayfaring tree maybe. Im aware that this was discussed on another thread a few weeks ago, and the last thing I read was "Why would the Ranger resources be of any better ql than resources harvested by a scout?".... well thats easy a Ranger knows, from experience how to harvest more carefully and selectivly, this just makes sense to me.
Now on to Traps
So with trapping 4 on the scout you get a total of 8 traps??? and with advanced trapping you get 2!!! This doesnt make sense to me at all, especially the fact that the ranger traps are practically useless. I use tons of traps, but only one kind, Phecnacine darts. I have use the sonic pulse to break up a group agro a few times, but this really isnt a reliable method for escaping large agro heards. I must admit that i usually keep a few for emergencys, but burst run or a pet can easily remedy most of those threats. Just add some more, there were some great suggestions earlier in this thread. I would love to see 5 more traps added to the advanced trapping line.
well I think this is enough for today from me ![]()
Ovoyo-Bloodfin, Ranger 4-2-4-4
Master Scout, Master Marksman, BH 0-0-0-2, CH 0-3-0-0... it works for me
One simple request, can the remainer of our traps gives states icons to our targets? I mean, the P-dart, Adhesive mesh, glow-wire, glow, and wire traps should have an icon next to the HAM bars of the target (such asdizzy, stunned, etc) so everyone in the group can know whether snare has dropped or not.
Also, with the "creature knowledge" skill, can that be applied to our group, so if a ranger is in the group, everyone is displayed the info. It would be reasonable to assume that if a ranger was on a scouting expedition, he/she would inform his hunting party about their target. Going along with that, our "creature to-hit" bonus should have a more noticeable effect, (also apply to meleer) and a smaller bonus (maybe half) should apply to fellow groupmembers.
"One simple request, can the remainer of our traps gives states icons to our targets?"
Sounds good to me. ![]()
I've been watching this board, and I must say, nice job Nraas! Now the top five seem to be /conseal cuz it just blows all around. I think it should have a pvp use as well...make it so we have a type of gully (sp?) suit on and players can not tab-target us. That would make it useful, not not too powerful at the same time. I also LOVE the idea of a ranger specific weapon used for hunting. We can have special shots and what-not for this. Ive found that hunting anything too hard still requires a group and a few chs, it would be nice to take down things on my own for once. Camps...well...you know all about those. Traps...they sux, we've all said that...we need more varations too. Only two varations for compleating the ranger trapping is not at all worth the skill points. Everything else seems covered by you guys....nice job again Nraas.
