Thread: If you could build a camp that did something other than heal, what would it be/do?

My answer is too long, complicated, and could be viewed as corrupting this threadso I posted here http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=ranger&message.id=4147. I loved reading this thread. There is a lot of potential for camps.

I like the idea of a fortified camp, the downside could be no healing modifier. That would make it just a defensable area that can be used by a gorup and make rangers worthwile in a group.

I'm not even sure what's so overpowering as a healing modifier. A master CH can have a gurreck (absolut god of PvE tanking now due to KD nerfs) yet we can't have a defendable / healing field base? It would be kind of cool if we could have a defendable field base that gave large bonuses to "ranged defense".

I like some of these ideas, but I have not seen anyone mention being able to fish from inside the camp. Now I know, when it is time for some serious fishing, you really have get into those waders and get out there, but for those lazy days when your just enjoying the scenery I'd kinda like to sit in my lawn chair and plunk down a bobber. I just can't seem to reach the water from within my camp.

And oh yes, no cooler..... this is definately a serious deficiency. A few extra plug ins for the band to use would also be nice for those hot nights on the beach, just to give those folks with the million credit mansions plunked down on the primewaterfront lots something to whine about.

Let me see, I mentioned the fishing camp, the party camp, I had another..... I'll think of it ... maybe tommorrow....Hey I'll get back to you on that.

- There is a reason Mineras asked this question... I suspect the developer asked him to poll for suggestions on new camp types.

- Hopefully some of these will find their way into the system.

- Therefore, let me presume that the developer has read this utterly massive thread, and I don't need to do anything with it.

- I will add this thread to my Ideas list (when I get off work).

Be cool to have a bizaar station that defaulted to closest town but allow us to buy things and then go in and pick them up.

Also have a Mission terminal in them.

Both of these could be at the Master level.

Plus, you would still need energy to run it and provide maintenance costs to run it.

Maintenance costs could be tricky, but I think it could be figured out.

"you would still need energy to run it"

- I find it amusing that we can run the existing crafting stations with no energy.

- Perhaps its solar powered... Yes that's it.

Not really a Rangerish type camp..but would be the easiest and most viable place to put it.

Foxholes!

Give the Rangers a good GCW skill to lay on teammates. Allowing them to go below ground and have the affects of boosting concealment and to-hit of non-rangers. Foxholes would disappear once no one is present in it. Only a shovel would be needed to create it and would take a period of time to dig. Would be cool to go into a battle area and help establish a defensive line for your squad.

As with the modular camp idea, here is an addition based on the last patch:

We have HTFB with crafting stations. What if other modules replaced them with small harvesters?

As long as your camp is up, you can harvest at a specific location. It doesn't stay up like a normal harvesting station so chances are you will go to an artisan for bulk, unless you plan to sit there for a long time.

So for example, instead of a medical crafting station, you could get a mineral harvester and instead of a weapon station at HTFB, you also get a flora harvester.

I could go camp, harvest for a while and get enough materials to make a few camo kits. I wouldn't have to plan for a week, get materials, hope the experimentation works for 2 lousy kits.

We dont have to spend any resources for current crafting stations, so that should still apply. Sure, we are getting something out of it, but so is anyone who uses our crafting stations. This one would actually benefit us and the group, especially if they are artisans on the run with resources.

Maybe a watch/sniper tower?

Wow, sweet idea... taking it a bit further, it would be nice if we could climb any tree to either escape/hide or snipe from.

Actually, on that tree climbing note...

We should simply be able to do MORE with the terrain. Climb some trees, have a fishing net or trap (heck, orbe able to make a fishing-specific camp), make an actual "trapper" like trap where you leave a few scattered and come back later for the critters (ewok-type meat-on-a-stick/net trap like chewy fell for in ROTJ?), hunting calls to attract specific creatures, and a cheesy animal disguise like the tiger suitin Monty Python's Meaning of Life...

While I'm at it, how about camps that are truly planet-specific... I've heard Hoth will be included in the space expansion, and if I can't make an igloo I'm not going.
