"Keep in mind that while we want this to apply to NPC's and Players, we need to keep our ideas more creature centric so the devs don't poo poo it on the basis that it doesn't fit into their vision."

Aye, I am worried about that as well... Most likely the /ambush versions that affect humanoids would lay in the realm in the cityversion of /conceal.

Though, I am sure this will cause an immediate backlash to the design.

Hmmm... I'll have to think about that one.

I think the materials should be generic. Bone, Meat, and Hide. Shouldn't matter what kind, as long as they are from that planet. And we should get full experimentation on the kit to generate more effective kits. Resource OQ and PE and DR could be a factor.

"Shouldn't matter what kind, as long as they are from that planet."

That was requested many moons ago, and the developers informed us that the game system would not handle that design idea without a significant overhaul.

Well, the name doesn't matter to me really. One thing to consider is that currently there is no design that really resembles this idea(except /takecover maybe). We keep going back to upsetting the other professions, how can we rob them of a profession feature when they don't have sucha feature, at least yet that is.Actually I never intended for it to work in cities. I forgot to add it to the list that it only works out in the wilderness. Anyway, there's no hurt in trying, of course. As you said in another thread, if we ask for something small, we will get something small. Better to ask now and have a chance to get it implemented than to never ask at all.

*boggle*

Maybe its just late and I am tired... but THAT makes absolutely no sense to me. The game would require a "significant overhaul" if the requirements for a Tat Camo Kit were changed from "Tatooian Reptilian Meat" to "Tatooian Meat"????

That is implied by the fact that we can only use /conceal while in the wilderness... And /ambush requires a player to be concealed.

Aye, I have written the proposal with the use of the term opponent, I don't reference creatures in the proposal.

Even with the invisibility skill at Master, it might still be too difficult to balance it with some professions...

Like say a Master Teras Kasi sneaking up behind a player and wreaking havoc in the first couple hits.

140 points then 92 for TKM-> 232 points, ya, I think I can live with that . Ever heard of Eyshot? We can mitigate this with possible detection each time you moved or the target could have some ranger skill (or even scout skills could be made to work) to counter. It all depends onhowit's implimented. But it will make folks thing twice about storming a stronghold that rangers would have a hand at protecting and help breach places that players will eventually make in such a way as to be "impregnable". Again, this is a real opportunity at making this game really exciting

Brain storm (or fart?)...

Would Faction detectors / Covert detectors be defeated by /conceal?

If we did nothing else to change it butthis one thing would this be enough to allow us to have an effect in the GCW?

Just a silly thought...

Anyone want to comment on this one?

I like it. However I'm not really for all this /firststrike & /ambush talk. Ranger isn't a combat class. Yes it's a combat support class, but you still need external combat skills.

The Devs want our proposed solutions to be simple to implement.

I would rather pitch the idea of keeping /conceal the way it is today, with the expection that it does not work in cities and dungeons, and only works in the wilderness. And then add to that the idea of defeating factional detectors with it as a tie into the GCW.

That being said, I don't want to take away from the effort put into the ideas on this thread. Good work all, it just so happens that I don't agree with you

Thanks,

Ranger is a support skill set. Most of the items included in the skill set are meant to support a weapon skill set that the player chooses.

/ambush fits that bill, by being useless on its own. But powerful when combined with a weapon profession.

Consider the structure when you look in a survey tool, it is:

Meat -> Herbivore Meat -> Dantooine Herbivore Meat

The only way to collect all the meats together for a single planet would have been to structure the system as:

Meat -> Dantooine Meat -> Dantooine Herbivore Meat

Clear as mud?

I see said that blind man.. okay.. screw it.. make it like a trap using "meat" and "bone" and "hide".

The way it is now.. as you progress up the tree, you get kits for the more advanced planets... but as it is the more advanced planets have more advanced MOBs which have a better chance of breaking /conceal anyway... so if you are Wayfaring I, you will have a hard time on that planet ANYWAY even if you had a kit for it because your +camo skill is not high enough.

Just make it a single camo kit with generic components and rely on the difficulty of the MOBs and the +camo skill level to be your limiting factor.

"It obviously has some way to read your mind."

The logic behindthe covert detector is that itis attached to a network list of all the known agents of the enemy. This list is stolen regularly from the other faction and has a list of all covert players along with identifying features.

That way, the detector simply scans you, matchs the features against its list and tags you an enemy.
