Thread: Top 5 Debate

Out of these three I would order them as Tracking (spawn points so I can find things to hunt), Traping(I use them a lot as a melee ranger), Camps.

Of the current top three, I would personally choose traps as I think my hunting ability (killing critters) needs the greatest help.

"Conceal/Maskscent: As others have stated, have it changed to remain in effect until damage is taken."

There is nothing conclusive, but it is possible this approach may be returning in the future.

Since conceal issues as a whole (and the faction-conceal problem I outlined in my case) caused many people to surrender their Wayfaring line, I'd vote it for top issue.

Suggestion for Conceal if we can get it to switch back to staying on during combat:

Have it give a +Ranged Defense bonus while active. The target might know where we are, but it is still more difficult to hit a target with no distinct edges because it blends with the background. Say +1 per level with a total of +5 at master, or whatever makes for a reasonable balance (I'd say it could be a lot more and not be a problem).

Rangers that use guns obviously benefit. Melee does as well while closing with a target or from any friends the target has. An addition like this might make a lot of people think conceal is worth the resources when they didn't before.

Last post i got a little carried away Sorry bout that hehe

Ok, here are my top five issues.....in no particular order.....

Traps - Id like to see new traps. Definatley want to see the Lures come into play, and would like to see traps being used on Pets, NPC's and PC's. Also, the higher up Trapping we go, id like to see new snares that last longer then the Phen Dart does now.

Wayfaring - This entire line needs some reconstruction. Fix the camo kits, but as a wayfarer, we should be the best at terrain negotiation. Id like to see us get a running bonus, have us run quicker and/or longer burst run. Maybe even the duration in which one is tired gets cut in half, allowing us to use burst run more often.

Camps - I personally love camps as of now, and they really don't do much but look pretty It gives me a great feeling of accomplishment when a player comes into my camp and says "Wow! What a camp!". Now, adding some more working features to them would be nice, having them actually repel creatures, and when I enter combat, i want to keep the camp, not get the "Your camp has been abandoned" Message. That way when combat ends, i can go back intomy camp and relax.

Creature Damage Bonus - Definatley would like to see this, since we are rangers, we should be the best hunters around.

Harvesting - As a Master, we should be able to harvest all three resources, and alot at that.

Thats thems for now, looking forward to seeing what the next patch has in store, Happy Hunting!.

Hmm, I also think that /coneal is working pretty good, but...

1) /conceal should not break at all in combat. It is a skill of an elite profession, that is a support a position. It is a unique ability to that profession, and costs plenty of resouces, not to mention time or money getting them. And not let us forget space in our already cramped inventory to store them, which can get insane if we making camo's for groups.

2) Info and hopfully some work on getting rangers some new traps. Also look into posted issues with current traps, such as the last one in stack not working, etc.

3) /areatrack, why do some things not show up when they are nearby. I have gotten this where nothing shows up within 100m or so, but I start walking to wards it, and within 30-40m I see a creature, that was not on track list. It has been mentioned that maybe elevation causes issues, and it seemed to me that the few times this happened, I was in hilly terrain. The lair thing would be good I guess. I usually just look in my list for a bunch of same creatures in same direction at about same distance. 7 out of 10 times there is a lair there.

4) how about some experimentation on traps. If we use low quality or average stuff, they are same as they are now. But if we use any high quality stuff, say over 500, we can start to get some improvment on them. Area for improvment could be, effectiveness ie better chance of affecting creatures, duration of the effect, and range ie beyond 50m. Maybe also implement the idea of combining multiple traps into one.

5) Improvments on camps, and new ones, as well as confirm/fix repel of camps. (I know others have had problems with this, but having things like Dewbacks conning white, saunter through my FB and attack us was not cool.) Improvments I mean things like with FB and HTFB, they do not disband from combat, and we can go outside of them for a certain range. Maybe the FB will not disband for combat, and then with HTB, it also will not disband for combat, and will also let us travel say 50 or 100m outside of it before disbanding.

My top issue is /conceal. I would like to have it back to breaks when hit/damage incurred. I have just been exploring since the patch. I haven't hunted since patch day +1. Kinda waiting to see if this is the final version for the next month before I change my ways.

Conceal old way: I used my pets only to guard me from harm. I didn't use them to attack.

Conceal new way: I would use my pets to attack and get the agro. Then I would join in, hoping no new spawns agroed on me. Going back to Yavin tomorrow to see how things work.

Before this CH was more of a collection for me, now it is going to be a way of life when soloing, and I solo a lot. No biggie.

1: Ways 4 here, I have used conceal on myself and others quite a bit lately, It seems to break quite often

2: We could use a weapon definitely. Bows and arrows dont exactly fit the lifestlye of the intergalactic hunter. I think we need to point at a little further down the historical trail at the buffalo hunter (not his complete disregard for his prey, just his weaponry) and his highly accurate, very huge rifle. Something with high front loaded damage, high accuracy, and a long delay fits the hunter (Single bolt action rifle, Even a bow is like that IRL)

I am not a master ranger so I will give one opinion for each of my mastered lines

I posted this in another thread, but I thought it would be appropriate here. Regarding /conceal and PvP/PvE.

My beef with /conceal isn't that I want to be invisible on people's radar, I just don't wan't to be a bright red dot on their screen. When I'm concealed make me a yellow, blue, or even better, purple dot on their radar. I'm concealed, they shouldn't want to pay attention or take notice of me. The enemyshould feel comfortable that the little dot representing me is not aggressive towards them.

My 2 creds.

I'd like to see /track working. My guild depends on me to find creatures and playersto kill. being able to quickly locate an animal better then areatrack would make any nerf, bug, delay in other commands traps or camps to hit the public....very easy to deal with....Kimogillas, watch out!

/areatrack

As a master ranger u should be able to pinpoint target location giving the exact location. And ability to see lairs would greatly help in hunting.

Creature Damage Bonuses

Hmm. Not sure about this. Would be better if rangers get some special attacks that could be used with ranger weapons.
Like umm.. /ceaturekillshot lol.

/conceal

This should give ability hide from creatures,NPC and players. Against players it would be radar invisibility. CH pets would require a conceal check if they can attack. Some sort of camo part could be used to clothing to make it unnecessary for ranger to use a kit for himself when using /conceal.

Traps

More traps please. Make traps affect CH pets, NPC and players. More duration to traps when advancing in trapping.
Traps that can be placed in ground like mines. Surroundings of advanced camps are automatically trapped against hostiles (creatures, NPC, players and their pets).

Camps

More camp types or improvements to existing ones. Ability to make some sort of scouting tower that increases radar range and /areatrack range. This could be part of HTFB.

Ranger Weapons

Two weapons for ranger, a melee weapon (some sort of spear ?) and ranged weapon (a high-tech huning rifle, slow but very efficient)

That was my list. Send some comments please.
