Japhy;

You get a bonus on Pistols. I get them with Rifles. CH and Brawler (My 2-handed sword) don't get any. Seems unfair... Just a silly thought...

Fichesi;

I like that idea. Lets also make sure what gets IN the list is correct too I'd be willing to let the devs figure out which is faster or easier to do first

"Lets also make sure what gets IN the list is correct too"

- My apologies, is something erroneous on the list?

- I do make a caveat when I post it, that you guys should inform me of any errors... Or issues that have been resolved.

N'Rass - Yeah, I should have added more but Lunch was calling my name

1.movement -The added bonus of adding extra speed over flat terrainand/or longer burst runand less burst run downtime would help greatly.

2. Conceal just doesn't seem to work as intended and the gathering of material vs the easy of maskscent makes maskscent far more popular. I would like to seethe plant be changed to a type of foraged food found only on that planet. With resource shifts and the need of a surveying tool, some material are impossible to obtain (ie Lok). Even allowing the ability to use a flora surveying tool would help greatly. The yield of 2 uses needs to be bumped up since

3. continued developement of the new traps and the hunting blind.

4. Master ranger needs something something special once youreach that level.

5. areatrack - rather see small/medium/large group of vrelts vs in each indivdual vrelt in the track window

6. trap/tents/conceal kitsstacking - helps inventoryorganization and experimentation. It would be great for experimentation since you will not have to carry 20 5 packs of trap "X" to go on a long hunting trip. Unless you are willing to pay for a droid with a crafting station

No, what he's saying is that should the Devs implement my suggestion, he'd like to make sure that the data displayed in the view is correct. There are other messages in this thread saying the data returned by /areatrack isn't always reliable. He wants to see both issues fixed at once: simplification of the display, and correct information.

I totally don't get the creature handling bonus.. not all of us are CH's.

IMO, CHs and Rangers should be very interdependent on one another, much more than the "can you tell me the level of my pet please" variety.

- By the same logic, not all of us are Ranged fighters...

- By default, all players can handle one smaller creature (+15 and below).

- The concept is that since Rangers are more in-tune with nature we should be able to command a more powerful creature than those city dwellers.

- Either way... It's simply a request.

- Unless the majority of the community get behind it, it will never reach the Top 5 list. It will simply remain on the list as a possible wish.

Ooh I forgot about that. Yes that is akin to what I was thinking in my prior post and I'd put that as my #5 ahead of tracking for resources. Also "scatter", "herd" andthe guerilla tactics I was referring to above was an aim towards crowd control (forgot the terminology). A hunter should be able to manipulate the behavior of his pray which is why I think rangers and bounty hunters should have this sort of skill.

NN'ras:

Just wondering what you think of putting the issues I listed above, scent / camo liability, bases, and traps getting into top 5 issues. I think it'll be much more constructive to detail current ranger abilities that are not working or are incorrectly implemented before we get a wish list together.

One more thing. If Rangers are so good with creatures, shouln't they get some creature handling bonuses somehow? I am also going Creature Handler and I would really like if my Ranger ability would further help me call out higher level pets.

You know, there are bonuses to hit with combat profs, I could see this... kind of like the Wookie bonus?

"I think it'll be much more constructive to detail current ranger abilities that are not working or are incorrectly implemented before we get a wish list together."

- As stated previously in this thread...

- The Top 5 is both a Wish list and Issues list.

- Depending on what the community feels should be the focus, the choices can go either way.

- Apparently, the tendency is towards existing issues, and less emphasis on new enhancements.

- So that is the way I will write the letter.

---

- Everyone still has a couple days to debate the issues, before I make the final choices.

- The issues listed in the State of the Profession will be used to flesh out the broader focus issues, along with anyresolutions that have been suggested.

Good Hunting.

- I also openly admit that having traps that only Scouts can throw is quite illogical as well.

That is a matter of training and certification, not physics.

I think non-Scouts should be able to throw traps. After all, I can pick up and throw Commando grenades... being effective with them is another matter.

ya, that seemed odd to me, they can't use our camps ether, even tho they should have a "moderate" skill to deploy one as described in the schematic.

- Whether you were being sarcastic this time or not, I havea request for improved Creature Handling bonus to the list.

- Now as for the Wookiee-to-Hit bonus... I'm all for it, of course.

-However... I doubt it would be a very popular request among our smelly brethren.

Nrass first let me congratualate you on your even tone as the new moderator ... I think it's essential for your position . I dumped my Ranger skills , not happy with the changes that come out and thought my points would be better spent elsewhere .

HOWEVER I have been Ranger since Beta , know it pretty well so please include my opinion in your tally ... if enough good changes come through I would be happy to return to Ranger .

1. Rangers should be getting significantly greater harvests than scouts . As is is now the difference is very small ... I think somewhere around 5% increase or lower if you have the full creature harvest points . The problem ? I could spend those points on offensive skills in other profession , making it so much easier and faster to kill things that I will be killing at twice the rate of a Master Ranger . So he gets 5% more per kill , I get 2 or 3 times as many full kills so doing the math it's easy to see that the little insignificant bonus to harvesting for a Ranger is not sufficent . Needs to be increased GREATLY and the ability to harvest from level 25+ creatures should be stripped or greatly reduced for any with less than a Rangers harvesting points .

2. Camps offer no great benefit to Rangers , scout camps work just as well . Very significant bonuses need to be added to Rangers camps , what they are is up for debate I guess . I would suggest greatly improved healing capabilities , adding hunting blinds and also making the camps actually repel creatures would be a good start .

3. Tracking , in it's current form Areatrack serves littel to no benefit to myself and many others . It is a list that is sloppy , inaccurate and inconsistent . Many stories abound of animals in sight not coming up , getting lists of 8 monsters from the same lair ( should read " many Snorbals or several Snorbals 450nw instead of listings for every animal around the lair ) , truncated useless information for myself . A lair of Snorbals would suffice here , then we have the inherent problem of the animals not even existing when there is noone around , so again not useful to me whatsoever . Tracking that either generates lairs some distance away or lair tracking would be much more beneficial .

4. Wayfaring . The problems in this line are evident . Noone really needs crawl speed all that badly and having 4 skill boxes devoted to it is an utter waste . Faster / longer lasting burst runs are what's needed here . Conceal seems prohibitive and not worth the effort , improved reliability and lower costs ( or even possible costs .... as far as I know Lokian domesticated meat has never and will never exist on Lok unless they add new animals that provide it or change some of the existing ones ) will make Conceal more usefull .

5. Trapping has a lot of stuff coming up so would be wastefull to discuss that much in depth before the changes . Suffice to say stun and dizzy effects on animals has never ever done anything even remotely useful for me ... I mean why would anyone waste the time to dizzy a monster when in the same time I could have pumped three 800 point eye shots into it . Just defies logic . Making the traps more effective and reliable , longer lasting and more usefull as far as effects go is what's needed .

Good luck and peace

Max
