Thank you for the correction... I've never even seen a looted animal component myself.

Looks like a jar of deformed pickles.

That is the way that /medicalforage operates.

The command performsa random /sample operation on the planets flora.

More likely that would have been the way /forage would have been implemented, if required.

If the Berry Fruit didn't exist on the planet, the command would not be able to pull any.

OK, I'm confused. I thought the request was to be able to forage flora that was specifically a flora component to the camo kits on that planet. If all it is is /medicalforage in a different guise then I don't understand the fuss.

You guys havent even gotten one message yet and your already complaining about it Jeez!! at least let everyone try it out for a couple of days before you start flaming it.

Last time (that I recall) someone complained about something before it went live, he turned out to be very prophetic - the group harvest bug when solo and grouped with a pet.

"I guess they are emphasizing that maskscent is used to travel rather than to fight, but if I'm travelling anywhere I fight a bunch of stuff on the way"

The question that should be asked is: What is the concept behind /conceal?

Why do we have the skill?

  • It is a specialty item used for sneaking past critters that you would otherwise not attack.

  • It is a mechanism to ensure that when you engage in combat, it will be on your terms... Rather than an ambush by a nearby aggressive creature.

  • It can be applied to team members who would not otherwise be able to /maskscent to evade attack.

  • It can be used to encourage aggressive creatures to ignore certain team members... By leaving the front line unconcealed and the support concealed.

  • It works against agressive humanoids, where /maskscent does not.

If a Ranger is expecting frequent combat, then use the inexpensive /maskscent between bouts.

If a Ranger is attempting to avoid combat, then use the expensive /conceal to avoid everything that might haveevil intentions regarding you.

The other changes sound good, especially the ones that improve the effectiveness of conceal/maskscent (less breaking, less aggroing). I read a post on the testcenter bug report thread that said conceal/maskscent were almost too effective now. Good to hear.

Pamoya, I'm curious where you've heard the actual effectiveness hasbeen altered - the test center statement didn't make any references to actual effectiveness changes. Are you saying it's something they've just snuck in already? ~J

No... Only specific creatures stalk.

The Great Plains Stalker is a specific creature on Naboo that uses Stalking A.I.

Once you pass into its stalking range, it will attach to you, and try to sneak up behind and jump you.

It's a very cool effect...

Kusaks on Lok are another great example.

Regarding the effectiveness, thats what NRaas and Delta are checking right now...you see its kind of hard to measure the true effectiveness on the live servers because there are detection bugs in maskscent and conceal that are fixed on TC. For all we know, on the live servers a large majority of the breaks could have just been due to bugs and the two skills, working as intended, are actually more effective than we originally thought.

Does anyone really believe it was an "accident" that camo kits only worked half as long as they now say they intended from the start? Please. I'm a programmer. I know better. You don't "accidentally" type in 15 (minutes) instead of 30, have it pass through in-house tests, sit on Test Server for 2 weeks and not notice. It's just not possible, and I'd appreciate it if they would admit they're stringing everyone along instead claiming that none of this was intended.

If you consider that it was in "ticks" instead and the fact that "tick" frequency was doubled recently (remember camp healing?) then it's quite possible that they missed it. I see no crime there. Things like that happen in programming business

I'm glad to hear the change, but would rather see

/maskscent and /conceal both work now for master rangers

Well I must stand corrected regarding the implementation of the stalking message.

It occurs whenever any aggressive creature latchs onto you.

So, yes it can be used to determine whether a creature is being drawn away from the pack.

This is actually even better than I expected.
