Thread: Top Ranger Issue
"This is new? It's been this way since I started playing."
This is a new one to me. I have not heard of this issue before.
Considering I have never been to a Static Spawn Site and rarely use traps, I would never have noticed this myself. ![]()
"I've used medical forage quite a bit, and getting something that stacks is rare."
But it is possible. ![]()
If someone were to perform the action over a longer duration, eventually they would pull up enough of one of the flora components to use for a kit.
However... The requirements would need to be changed so we could use any flora from the planet in our kits.
"No other profession has a craftable item that only works on 1 planet"
No other profession really has any logical need to have planet specific equipment.
This may be the future, butguards still use Pikes, and people still travel on mounts (eventually
).
Acamoflauge kit from Desert planet of Tantooine doesn't make sense if someone were to use it on the Forest moon of Endor. ![]()
I'm thankful that one camoflauge kit works acrossan entire planet. Naboo plains are quite different from its swamps. ![]()

Going from your last point, why can't I use the camoflogue from the forests on Naboo on Endor? On stormtroopers,or other NPCs,who probably can't tell the difference between leathery hide or bristley hide, avian bone vs animal bone, herbivore meat vs domesticated meat, hard wood vs soft wood, oats vs wheat, let alone what planet they came from.
Logically, I think the animals would know better which is why camo kits the way they are are more suibted for using against animals than humanoids. In any case, even from the first I agreed with the reason why they are doing it this way, but from the perspective of game mechanics and overall fairness (and the elusive fun factor) this just isn't the way to do it. It's like adding mounts that run slower than us and requires silly resources to get.
Sorry, I just didn't realize it was a new issue.

I know this is way off topic but sense you mentioned he is the Chef dev as well, they need a hotfix a.s.a.p. ... I can't eat their food any more, and my pet and Ihave been living on foraged only, I can get by but I'm worried for my pet

Tastes that bad? ![]()
Seriously though, I think it's a rather disheartening realization when your dev is the one in charge of the professions needing the most fixing. These professions have so little depth within the game and are all in so much need of work that I think this itself should be the #1 issue.

Not all forests are a like mind you. ![]()
Consider the Jungles of Brazil versus the Redwood forests in Western U.S.
Most likely if we were to use the wrong shading of greenor brown, we would stand out to the native wildlife who are accustomed to how their surrounding look.

Yes but you mostly ignored by point concerning that. How many people can tell the difference between different types of wood or oat. If I have completelydifferent strains of rice from different areas of the world, could anyone but an expert tell the difference? If I took the same strain and grew it on a similar planet, could you then tell what planet it's from? If Ocha is a type of scaley hide that I found on Tatooine that I can now get on Endor, who is going to be able to tell the difference? I think the only ones capable of making that distinction should be able to ignore our camoflogue anyway.
Since you are talking about wood that gets processed through harvesters, you're not talking about the bark. The wood of most trees when unfinished looks pretty similar unless carefully examined. The idea behind camoflogue os to not get noticed in the first place, let alone avoid being carefully examined.

It's not a concern whether the people can tell the difference...
I'm mostly worried about the critters, they are harder to fool. ![]()

Either way...
I agree that it shouldn't matter what flora we use in the kit (as the camoflauge kits are specific to a planet, and not a region of the planet).
That is why the suggestion is relax the restrictions down to planet specific resources, rather than the ultra tough requirements that are currently defined.

My analogy was much too specific I guess. ![]()
We are talking about different planets here...
- Most likelynot all the worlds were seeded from a common lineage, and therefore could have vastly different texture and palette.
And even if they did evolve from a common ancestor (Rori vs Naboo for instance)...
- Most likely they have differentiated greatly since that time (as cross pollenation between planets is rather difficult).

But that doesn't help in managing your inventory. You will still need well over 100 spaces to be able to have camo on demand for any planet. It becomes easier to acquire the needed resources, but doesn't help the management issue. How different is domesticated wheat from corellia than from tatooine? Really?
And camo is all about fooling people as maskscent is for fooling critters.
"And camo is all about fooling people as maskscent is for fooling critters."
Because you can't apply/maskscent to another player, /conceal must take the burden of hiding from both critters and humanoids alike. ![]()

In the case of how it tastes, I'm sure it's the same, as they are compatible when itcomes to recipes.
However when it comes to how the wheat looks like, they could be vastly different. ![]()
