Thread: My Ranger Proposal! Came up with this when i was bored a while ago.
On the ranger term, The missions would be used as follows:
1) Trophies, like you have.
2) Pack hunting. We rangers are always looking for the large packs of lets say, Naboo Avain Meat based creatures. I would sure like to have some help spawning these packs in a specific direction. Plus one of the things I like about TC right now is the large fields PACKED with creatures. If you can't get on, someone should post a screen shot.
3)Large Game. Get missions to find using ranger skills creatures up to Creature Level 100. (old level 100)
4) NPC Hunting. This is the NPC version of the Pack Hunting. Want to kill loads of Aa'kuans? SMC's, etc. Find a way to chain a series of spawns together using ranger skills.
Master Ranger Missions. FIND Rare Creatures.
I'd love to be able to help find GDKs, Ancient Rancors, Graul Mauraders, etc. These don't have to be easy, just "do-able" in a reasonable time.

As a TKM / MRanger I do not like the overall proposal becausethe bonus and skills arebiased to ranged combatand very little given to melee.
Why give speed and damage bonus to ranged and not melee?
Why is a weapon required for Ranger experience when TK is currently most effective bare handed without a weapon?
How is the issue ofa melee loosing profession specific attack/defend bonuses if a different profession's weapon is equipped?
Didnt say it was perfect did I?
But to answer your point any defenses would be based on your ranger level so as a tkm you would have ranger plus tkm bonuses all the time whilst ranger/rifleman would only have ranger bonuses until he sticks a rifle in his hands!
The whole point was to make it so that you could be a ranger and pick any other profession to go with it but as you cant be a crafter/combat mix and fully enjoy the game anymore Ill have to change that!
I wasnt expecting the whole equip any weapon you want bug (and it is a bugdue to them not having any idea how a level 80 could start to level another prof without it) so ill do a workaround on how to fix defenses - maybe you ahve some ideas?
Oh and thanks Jonnus ![]()

Room for improvement? Definatly. Overall? its a good proposal with a lot of very Rangerish skills and usefull Mods. The path I would like too see Ranger take is an Eliete hunter (Survivalist)/Gurilla warrior, and this goes down that path. I like it.
I would have liked to see Field Crafted Weapons or Ranger Weapons Pup's, Camp foods (Buffs for Cammo, Mask scent, TN, things Chef food doesn't do), and Cammo that removes us from all detection, things like that.

Well i put Camo as a "remove from sight/radar" that can only be broken by another ranger or when you enter combat, except for basic attacks. Thats as good as Riflemen and Jedi, perhaps better. Plus basic Ranger weapon version are field craftable, just weapionsmith ones are better.
And as for swiping BH content, your not really. Think about it, you have to track down a player, without droids or without knowing where they are or whether they are online. It would be very difficult. Plus, the SPs to get to that level are quite a bit. Think about a Ranger/BH or a ranger and a group of BH. They can hunt someone then pick another target. The Ranger is really the unconvential warfare guy they hire to help out. He can fight, hard, apply states, pop camps for healing (and getting new missions) and can sneak about doing a bit of pathfinding.

Think, though: when riflemen and jedi got the radar invis we were told wasn't gonna happen, many of us were irate. That was OUR area of expertise. When the masses got camo, many of us were irate. That was OUR area of expertise.
I have no desire to hear the howls of rage from the BH community that would inevitably happen as a result of us getting access to npc and player bounties. If I wanted to hunt people, I'd be a BH. (Which I am.) There are plenty of other directions we can go in as Rangers. I do want more, a whole hell of a lot more, but not cut-and-pasted BH content.

I really like the idea. The only issue I have is the bow. I'm not saying it can't exist, or doesn't exist, it just doesn't seem very Star Warsy to me. I personally would like to see some sort of Long Range Slug Thrower with a scope. I've always thought of the ultimate hunter as a "Sniper of the wild." I think of Marine sniper unit, Army Ranger sniper unit etc... but with this said that's what MR/MRifles is. /shrug. I'm stuck.
As i have said before, a rifle would kind of annoy those melee people out there. So having a unique weapon would be good (otherwise we will just get a pistol like docs, SLs etc.), bows are pretty high tech, and they worked withfor the ewoks. A crossbow isnt that good as wookies have bowcasters. Therefore I concluded a knife that can be punched plus a crossbow covers some melees.
Plus, with the combat specials i came up with you can use a rifle and shoot them with that, or punch with them, or chop or whatever. Thats about the only good thing to come out of the CU.
I like most of this proposal, but the man/jedi hunting thing goes too far. That's beyond stepping on toes-- it's getting all the BH content without having to be a BH at all. I've always liked the big game hunting terminal idea, and I wouldn't mind at all having a creature equivalent to BH content. I'll echo Phenix in calling for a separation of combat role and content role, and further say that creature content is fine by me so long as my combat role isn't limited.
But swiping BH content isn't cool. Other than that, a really nice proposal.
