Yesterday, I spent nearly all 4 hours fishing on corellia and got just over 600 fishing meat.. and then BE's wonder why fish meat is rarely availlable
While I was fishing I came up with this idea to help fish become more of a dependable resource:
Allow Master Rangers to use slots to make fish traps, which have to be checked dayly in order to make the most of them..
in order not to overpower them, allow only a limited quantity of harvest space, like 1000 or even 500, obtained over a 24 hour period, using two slots so one ranger couldn't possibly put up 10 fishnets.
In my opinion this would not replace regular fishing, heck, I love fishing, but a BE friend told me he needs like 12k fish meat for ONE schematic and frankly, I don't love fishing THAT much as it'd require me to fish at least a week nonstop , sleeping only on minimal times, to supply enough for one schematic, this is crazy
If I'd charge lost income based on how much I'd have earned harvesting Rancors the fish filet's prices would become astronomical indeed..
What do you all think ?

Hmmmm... when I first saw this post I was sure it was included somewhere - but I haven't been able to find it. I think this is a great idea! I do hope eventually they enhance the current method of fishing so it is more fun, but this would solve the fact that htere is rarely any fish meat to be had.

Semi-related question - does chef require fish?

I havent got a clue how do you punish a correspondent? Well we could get Nj to post that picture of him wearing the clothes that shall not be named

Ummm I have a pretty good imagination. You'll have to be pretty creative to to hit the inhumane level for this future Mos Eisley despot

hmm, I'd like to flay the hide off of all the people who murdered this thread and tie them to an ant hill..

thanks to the people who are able to use a forum the way it's intended and stayed on topic though.

My BE needs fish for pet stimpacks.. more needs are bound to exist.

So if you don't find anyone wanting to buy fish it is because supply is unreliable and only low amount stacks can be found during a given spawn.

Fishnets would alleviate this and make fish as much a used resource as leathery hide or herbivore meat..

Great idea. I like theconcept of fish nets. I find fishing enjoyable but by no means profitable.Fishingsupports my need for Pet Stimpak D's and whatever is left over my BE can use as he pleases.

In order to appease everyone and promote interdependence we could always have Tailors make fish net. We could use it in Fish Traps and they could use it in Clothing.

ok, i have 2 replies.

first the humorous one:

When i first saw the thread title, i thought this should have been in the Tailor Forum. Thought someone wanted some fishnet stockings...

ok, now the serious reply:

I LOVE this idea. Some Food items such as Fish, Shellfish, Mollusks, and Eggs are just a real pain in the rear to ever get. I think that this fish net idea is a great one to address Fish, Mollusks, and Shelfish. Now we just need a good idea for how to get eggs and milk in larger stacks and we'll be all set. I have a MCH/MBE friend who said she always needs these organics, but can never get large stacks of it. Maybe my guild will need to hold a Milking Competition?

LOL you need to calm down, this is the ranger forum, its not like any other and we do things very differently around here.

You can look in almost every other thread in this forum and at one point or another we have swayed somewhat from the main topic simply because most rangers have wide imaginations and a good sense of humour.

No one takes anything away from your thread by simply going off topic now and then after they have put forward their feedback. We stay on topic but also talk about other things and joke around too, obviously you dont like this but the majority love this forum for mainly those reasons: a fun atmosphere, layed back, can joke around and its not YOU MUST POST THIS WAY! STAY ON TOPIC!!!.

You got constructive feedback, lots of us loved your idea, many provided their take on things, what were you expecting? a medal? a badge? a trophy? If you dont like the off topic conversations then just dont read them or simply dont respond to them, you will still get your feedback.

K im done

problem with going off topic in this way is that the topic becomes so blurred that nobody bothers reading through it anymore.. you wanna joke around ? sure.. but start a *fun thread* then, heck, I'll come in and joke around with ya..

What I saw happening however was nobody after a certain point getting back to topic, fishnet stockings being soo much more interesting offcourse

and after a while the thread died down.. no new input, not even additions to the jokes..

and now you did it again, by taking this thread way off topic once again..

if you can't stay on topic, remain silent please... if this makes me a 'bad ranger' , sorry, but if I want b/s I'll go to the cantina..

edit: and no, I don't expect any reward or acknowledgement, all I expect is a discussion without the bad jokes..

back on topic

so what we have so far is a proven need for a way to get more fish, which would not be unbalancing the economy.

ways to do this that where mentioned where to make it a 1 use only affair needing a fair amount of resources with limited stock ability and slots for buildings.

a way to promote interprofession trading that was mentioned was to make nets which tailors could make

personally I do believe a Master Ranger should be quite adept at making a net though..

Wow, did someone release liquid waste product into someone's bowl of circular shaped breakfeast food. Cuz it wasn't me; I have been at work all day... joking around with my co-workers and getting a lot accomplished.

lol you must realise that most people post in reference to the original starting post and never actually go through each and every post in a thread. If someone does read through them all they dont normally like to repeat themselves in the same post because they have already layed out their ideas.

Just because we can have a laugh doesnt mean we dont get anything done around here, it just makes it fun to develope ideas, the main reason why people love this forum and its so different from the rest. We dont need serious threads answering top issues, we need layed back threads that you can just lay down your ideas with no consequence and have a laugh doing so.

and again, you managed to kill the thread.. way to go, cowboy..

If you aren't serious about professional issues, how do you expect the devs to take us serious ?

So please , PLEASE, take your 'layd back , casual demeanor to some other thread and stop trolling..

Umm, how much development does this idea need? We know that fish and such are hard to get. The Devs know it too. Fish nets have been suggested (and, actually, this is not the first thread to do so). I would be surprised if the Devs have not heard of the idea (either from Calculus or just reading the boards). This does not mean that we should expect to see them anytime soon. If we don't take a laid back attitude, we will start to get really annoyed. The laid back attitude keeps us happy enough that we can live with a profession that isn't complete. If we took this game as seriously as you recommend, this forum would be empty. If we took life as seriously as you seem to want us to take this game then the Devs wouldn't have anyone playing. Taking this thread seriously won't make the Devs implement it any faster. It will just make it boring (and short--how much detail do you want us to go into for fish nets? You almost make it sound like this will be our defining skill). Relax and try to enjoy the game as it is. Something like a fish net will make the game better but I wouldn't expect to see it soon.
