Agreed, a solution acceptable by both sides would be ideal.

I'd just like to echo again Damien's last point about how nice it is to have such a civil forum in which to discuss these things. Hat off to all of you!

While the cantina 'faction' is a great idea, I too wonder how easy it will be for the devs to code. Currently faction only works (to my knowledge) by killing things. (Maybe we could gain cantina faction by killing afk-macrotainers?! It'd certainly win points with ones that aren't afk!). I'm trying to think of any location where simply being there has an effect on your character in any way... as I write the hospital and camps themselves come to mind. Sit in one spot and your wounds slowly heal. Is there any way this code could be adapted to allow for a passive counter of some sort based on location? Don't know, just throwing thoughts out off the top of my head. Also, just to clarify, are you saying that it's the players that would have to 'earn' the ability to be healed? Or that the entertainers themselves would have to earn the ability to heal? Either are great idea's, soif we can think of a reason for this to be the case (other than just being a piece of code)then I think that could go a long waywiththe developers.

That aside, it seems the holodisk is an extremely popular idea all round. (As mentioned my g'friend is master dancer so I tend to read those boards too). We could well be onto something there and the idea of chits handed out by entertainers is definately one we should work on, I think.

I'll concede that Master dancer/musician may be a little too tough, but I'll maintain that it needs to be higher than Novice (for now at least!). It's right to say that this is probably going to be rare in any event, but it's my opinion that this should be designed to benefit 'pure' entertainers - I think the number of skill points needed to achieve this ability needs to be looked at carefully... maybe third tier or equivalent?

If we can pool a few more idea's on this, I'll head on over to the dancers forum sometime over the next couple of days andfloat the idea's there.

As a side note, I heard somewhere that fishing slowly heals BF. I'm sure this was just a joke but might have to test it out later all the same. Anyone know?

Great work all. Keep it up!

Oh, and yeah - I want a plasma screen too!

I've long supported allowing Master Dancers/Musicians heal battle fatigue in the HTFB.

I play a dancer part-time as an alt. You sparked my interest talking about their different skill trees. They have wound healing and fatigue healing as two different skill lines. Perhaps the ability to heal BF could be incorporated into box 3 or 4 of fatigue healing? Granted, entertainment healing xp is the easiest to get.. but that far up in the line would be a significant skill point investment. Hopefully, from a programming stance, it would be easily to implement.

My Ranger has entertainment healing 4, as a novice entertainer. Honestly, while it would be a perk to heal BF in my own camp, I don't think it is wise.City cantinaslargely unpleasant these days (my alt is gathering dust because the cantina so desolate) and a lot of revisions need to be made for AFK-macro entertainers. On the other hand, I agree with those that have posted -- this combo would be a rare occurence and would probably have little impact on the cantina scene, such as it is.

I've been led to believe that the Devs are really very adamant about battle fatigue, so it might be moot. Wouldn't it be nice if they would implement one of these ideas and let the test server play with it for a while?

This has been a well-thought out and well-written thread. Thank you.

P.S.

I'll sacrifice 3 skill points for an edit button.

I would love to be able to heal BF in my camps.

But...

I would never go in a cantina again and neither would most people. Some Dancers and Musicians live in cantina's because they want to. Where does it leave them if no one needs to go there anymore. Sure, its a pain sometimes to find a cantina, but I like the idea behind it. As a ranger, I full support the idea of NOT healing BF in camps.

Do I want it? Yes.

I want a lightsaber too, but I dont think I should have it.

Your point is compeletly understood, Hassle, and it's an important one to keep in mind.

I think the vision itself is what needs adjusting though. I disagree with the concept that only entertainers could possibly heal BF. Fatigue indicates a need to rest and the camp provides that. So do the Cantinas, hotels, houses and other structures.

If a person has battle fatigue, they need to rest. And in real life, the last place I go to rest is nightclub. hehe.

The vision or concept of SWG as a whole was never fleshed out at all. This will take time. I just hope it does not turn into the cookie cutter game it is right now andseems to be heading for(Everyone that wants to do PvP is a BH, etc.). Perhaps we may never heal BF - but let's at least provide an environment or some options for entertainers that do not want to macro-tain. (Nobody in the guild I lead goes to cantinas because there are no live players there - period. They all head to the PA Hall for relaxation and laughs).

Let's certainly continue to focus on the entertainer's game while we discuss this though. I think we can find an equitable solution by not curing BF but by providing another means for entertainers to do so.

I believe that Cantinas are already dead, as many of you have pointed out. My concern is that "holo disks" would just further AFK dancers. Just my opinion on that.

I think that most people agree that it would be a good idea to be able to heal BF in a camp. It's the only kind of wound not healable, and it becomes a snag in long term hunts.

I think that higher end musicians and dancers should get the ability to heal BF in camps (not master). This idea has already been proposed many times as well.

The biggest question is about the cantinas themselves. BF needs to change, not the camps - there needs to be incentive to go to cantinas - for the atmosphere or whatever, and have it so that there is a reason to go there over camps at times. Speed of healing, quality, I don't know. Maybe camps could temporarily lower BF or something (with the help of an entertainer). Make it sort of like a "buff" that takes away BF for x amount of time, so that the people on a hunt are not affected by it, but need to get it healed for real eventually.

I don't know, the idea seems a bit weak, but am I making sense?
