Thread: Top 5 Report (Oct 27)
"You dont think the massive increase to the occurance of prone warping when you become ranger makes it related to our profession?"
Personally, I do not use prone in my daily gaming (as melee and prone don't work well together
)
- It is related to the use of Ranged weapons, and not the Ranger profession itself.

Hmmm...Crawling...
Either way...
Take for instance the /takecover bug... That is a Rifleman skill...
- But something in our Profession was causing it to work abnormally. That is why it is listed.
Nothing in our profession is actually causing the warp problem...
- It is a global problem with the game system that we just see more often than other professions because many of us are Riflemen, and many of us like to use our feeble crawling speed bonus.

"How sure are you of this?"
After you and your friendhit Novice did you happen to change any of your tactics?
- Perhaps you now go pronewithout first stopping for a second as you are in more of a hurry.
- Perhaps you use the crawl speed bonus and therefore go prone more often.
Since the Posture Change bug affectsmost posture changes (sitting, swimming, prone), it is probably not a symptom of something regarding our profession.
----
Now whether the warping is more exaggerated in our profession is another question entirely. ![]()

No change in tactics, in fact we havent even changed what we were hunting. Same creature, same tactics. In fact the tactic change only took place after we hit ranger and its to combat the warping, which is to stop, watch myself till I shift slightly in 3-10 secs, and then go prone, thus avoiding the warping problem most of the time. Not a great solution as in 3-10 secs mobs can easily move out of range.
I just did a very quick and dirty test. Using my non-ranger character I ran and did prone 20 times, I got 1 warp. With my ranger I did the exact same thing, 17 warps. Of course different servers and different skill sets, so not a very scientifically sound test, but it does mirror what I felt happened when I hit ranger with my character. If there was a way I could show you without having to give up my skills or grind a bunch more I would :/

This is exactly what I think is happening, a serious exageration of the bug, which is why I felt it was worth mentioning, specially if finding the point of exageration helps them track down whats causing the bug in general.

In regards to "Inventory Full" message when foraging. I've noticed it always does that when I have three foraged food in my inventory.
I think it does that to keep people from loading up and making bank at the baazar?
Reading that makes me want to be a Master Ranger even more... ![]()

Great job, the effort you put into this will benefit us all

"Have not read this elsewhere"
You should read the full State of the Profession list available via my signature.
- The Top 5 Report is simply a subset of the larger list, highlighting the high priority items.

Thanks for the replay Nraas. Very helpful link! Too bad noneon the list areMagneta and Red.
I forgot one more "wish" that I did not see in my read of your state of the profession....../areatrack (at master for that column) should place a waypoint for the target selected from the list. I very surprised this was not the case when I started learning tracking....seems like a very convenient add.
Great post. As with others I hope the Dev's read this.
I want to add my two cents on a couple of items:
- Camp: Add a darn general and weapons crafting station option to the field bases. I have never made/seen the high tech field base, but I think both types only have the medical. Having the general would sure help with crafting camo kits in the field.
- Have not read this elsewhere, but allowing BF to be healed by entertainers in a field base would give some extra demand by groups for ranger services.
- CH "bonus": Given the new pending changes will allow non-CH's to only have lvl 10 pets and below, I thought rangers should get a pet lvlbonus of +5 (spread up the hunting tree per skill box). This would allow rangers to have slightly better pets than non-rangers as they progress, but not as good as CH's of course. This would also maybe allow Rangers to have better mounts than non-CH's (which also makes "ranger" sense). Ranger / CH's combos would also have a little more incentive.
Just a thought to add to a great post.
I am floating this report again...
- Thunderheart appears to be collecting these things for some nefarious purpose.
- And I wanted to ensure everyone knows what is being presentedto the Powers That Be.
