I've considered this possibility myself, and sent it to the Dev team. I would suggest simplifying it to a commodities market, much like a real-world market. Players would place Buy or Sell orders on the market. (e.g. 'Buy/50k units/resourcetype/10CPU, 'Sell/5kunits/resourcetype/10CPU'). The orders could be placed for any amounts, there may be a listing fee. Orders would be completed in partial units.

example;

A sell order is placed for 50k units of X-Hide at 10CPU. The Hide is placed in escrow.

Buy orders exist for this resources as follows; Buy 5k units at 12CPU

100k units at 10CPU

example;

A sell order is placed for 50k units of X-Hide at 10CPU. The Hide is placed in escrow. Buy orders exist for this resources as follows;

Buy 5k units at 12CPU,100k units at 10CPU, 10k units at 9CPU, 1k units at 10CPU.

orders would be filled, 1. buy order for 5k units at 12CPU would be filled

2. buy orders for 100k and 1k at 10cpu would each receive 1k units

3. buy order for 100k would recieve the remainder

4. buy order for 10k units at 9CPU would no be considered.

Sell orders would always be filled from highest buyer first,buy orders of equal value would be filled equally in 1k units (round-robin) until all are filled or sell order is complete.

This system would encourage a lively market in resources... everyone could participate, regardless of hunting or harvesting quantity, or crafting quantity needed. The market terminal could reflect a 'market price' on any given resource based on the average of recently completed transactions. There would be a nominal listing fee for orders, such as on the bazaar, and possibly a delivery surcharge agreed to in order to allow orders to be filled from non-local terminal listings (as a buyer i could agree to a x% surcharge on the completed order so that sell orders from any planet market terminals could apply to my order, otherwise only local listings would apply. OR, the seller can agree to pay the surcharge so thier order could apply to more markets. If both pay the surcharge, no split or refund is processed, just to keep it simple).

One thing that some here seem to be forgetting is that this wouldn't force PvP. You would be able to have the option of taking missions without bounties, or if you want to run the risk of being hunted yourself, taking one with bounties. Mission terminals let you choose between deliver and destroy, why can't these market terminals let you choose between collection missions and bounty collection missions? The missions with bounties on them should be more lucrative because the risk is much greater.

To those worried that I seem to let this die. Don't worry.

To those happy that I seem to let this die (if any). Sorry, no such luck

I'm waiting for my edit button before pushing this idea to multiple boards. I feel I can't promote it properly if I need to add stuff in or correct certain features of it halfway through a thread. Especially since most people in the longer threads only seem to read the first and last couple of post before posting the same thing 10 others already done (raises hand, Guilty as charged your honor)

Whatever you do with it, good luck. It is a fun idea that will hopefully work.
