Geez, I have been living the good life since I turned off the ranking system. Tell me why we needed this again?

cause we need more pictures to put by our names!!!
oh, and I'm praying that they let the highest level not only edit their own posts, but the posts of lesser people.

I'm curious about something: does anyone use a rating other than 1- or 5-star?
I rarely rate, but when I do its either:
1. To try and correct an undeserved 1-star.
2. To try and censure a particularly potty-mouthed and aggressive poster. (I am sure it never has the desired effect, but it reduces my stress levels.)
3. To signal agreement with a poster if the topic is a hot-button for me.
4. To reward a thoughtful and informative post (faq, proposal, observation etc).
In all of these cases, I never seem to find a use for 2- to 4-star ratings.

I forget where I read it (maybe here?) but someone suggested "village idiot" as a one-star title.
The only problem I have with this is that self proclaimed trolls will try hard to get these titles. Otherwise I think it is great.

No alma only BH's can use forum traps. Its why they were required to have traps 4. So watch out for "Forum Snare" "Why the devs hate us Caltrops" "Read the Stickies Wire mesh"

yep - I guess you've figured out the system for the bloodfin boards - if you're part of the self-selecting group of post-whores and trollers, then you can post pretty much anything you want with impunity (and as often as you want apparently too), but if you're not part of this crowd, then you get one-starred and flamed until you eventually give in and quit. I mean, heaven forbid that that board actually be useful or interesting to anyone except the small cabal that seems to regard it as their own private playground.
