I have not noticed any diminishment at all in my ability to be a hunter since I gave up Master Ranger, or even all my Ranger points for that matter. At most I have noticed a slight drop (20% or so) in the amount of hides, meat, etc that I harvest but that's it and it is easily made up by killing one extra creature.

I don't miss wayfaring, I use a vehicle everywhere and I never crawled.

I still /maskscent just as well as I did whenI was a Master Ranger.

The traps I use most are all Scout traps.

I almost never use a camp beyond the basic camp and that's just for healing wounds or calling a vehicle. The last good use I got out of my High tech master camp was as a hosting pavillion for a PA-sponsored fishing contest.

I never got the to-hit-creature bonus since I was a melee Ranger.

I rarely used Areatrack after vehicles. Now I just zip around and find a lair faster than I could scouting 500m at a time.

And best of all,I have 77 points I can spend on actual working skills and still drop tons of meat and hides on my buyers to keep my bank account full.

Ranger was a good idea and we got some lovin' early on,I was there. But in my opinion, I agree with the original poster and have to say that vehicles have pretty much done in the Ranger as a viable class. I hope that changes in the future.

ARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

WHY DOES EVERY EX-RANGER FEEL THE NEED TO SHARE HIS DISDAIN FOR OUR PROFESSION IN OUR FORUM!!!!!

PLEASE! Anyone else.. you are no longer a Ranger.. spend your time in a more productive manner than telling US, who have chosen to stay.. WHY YOU LEFT!

We are ALL aware of the problems with the Ranger profession... as we are currently engaged with it NOW. We DO NOT need hundreds of posts saying "Goodbye" or "Why I am quitting" ... Please.. just go... QUIETLY.

Remember the old maskscent? People were "exploiting" the feature to get scout points simply by finding high-level mobs and running around them, re-masking whenever it broke. So... they "fixed" it. They put a waiting period in so you couldn't just mash the button and be protected again. So what happens now with the vehicle patch? You mask scent, jump in your speeder and drive across a planet like endor and sit in amazed shock as the scouting exp spam scrolls across your screen. Who cares if MS breaks now? The risk of death is even lower than pre-MS-fix ever was. Is it just me.. or does this strike you as pretty ironic.

As far as the tracking skill goes.. I never thought that it would amount to much. The benefit, people thought, was that you could go "deep" into the wilderness and find those rascaly critters better than anybody else. In practice, you find that once you are more that 2km from civilization, the area track feature becomes useless.Because of the dynamic spawn feature of the game, you don't have anything to track because there's nothing out there to trip the spawn points. There should be some chance added to track for actually triggering a spawn point. Too tough to do that? Well, since we obviously have the wherewithall to create such technical wonders as crafting stations and advanced traps, why can't we craft a seeker droid for ANIMALS. The higher the skill of the ranger, the tougher the animal it finds (better yet, spawns).

Foraging is another rather disappointing capability. I'm a master ranger, for crying out loud. I should be able to find high-value foods/spices/healingsalveswhile in the wilderness. At LEAST make it so I can forage a reasonable STACK of food. It strikes me as pretty odd that my ranger skills are only capable of finding a single piece of fruit. Don't most of those sorts of things grow in groups on vines, bushes, and trees? And while you're at it, make the effects last more that a minute.

Camps would be better if they actually repelled something. Not to mention, it would sure be nice if they made it so a camp would stay deployed during a hunt. "Let's return to base camp" would actually have some meaning to it. Then, when you pitch that monster HT kit, people might actually use some of the benefits contained therein.

Last, but not least, are the traps. Why can't I use them in caves? Why can't I use them against NPC's? Why are the most useful traps in the SCOUT line? Why, as a master ranger, can't I make a trap that's more effective than the same trap made by a novice scout? And why, as a master ranger, can't I get a trap to spring on things like Kimo's? Granted, my pistol has a reduced impact due to the creature's better armor. Wouldn't it make sense to make our master-level traps at least partially effective?

My idea: make it HIGHLY likely that you'll be knocked off your vehicle while being attacked, unless you are still camo'd or masked.

Sorry Pathe, didn't mean to flip your switch. I don't like "This sucks, I'm outta here" posts any more than you do and as one of the first Master Rangers on Corbantis I've been around long enough to see ALOT of them.

And sorry if my post came off sounding that way because it was not my intention. My only intention was to say "I'm a former Master Ranger and I can't tell the difference. Please help the Ranger class."
