Thread: Questions Concerns For the Revamp

Ranger Correspondant....Here is the problem, as well as Solutions to the problem.


I've posted this before, but just thought I would repost it, as alot of people see camps as being pointless. HOWEVER....


They can be made to be effective tools in both GCW, as well as Hunting Partys, AS well as providing that "Self-Sufficient" Ranger that we are supposed to be.


Me personally I would like to see all the camps go to Scout, except the High Tech Field Base Kit, and the Field Base Kit.

So the question...and my solutions




  • Question: Where is camping going?
  • Answer: Camping seems to have left us as there has been no notable points in the revamp doc plus the tiers dont seem to support it. Where are camps will go remains a mystery, but possibly if the devs do decide to move camps they will go to SL (rally points, group support etc) or Scout.



Basic Camp Kit


+5 to Self-healing and Buffing, +5 Self-camoflage, +5 Self-Mask Scent


Seating for 1


Camp lasts for 10 Minutes after you leave, before it becomes abandoned. Restarts timer on camp ifscout comes back to camp before the 10 minute timer runs out.







Multi Person Camp Kit


+10 to Self-Self-Healing and Buffing, +10 Self-camoflage, +10 Self-mask scent


Seating for 3


Camp Lasts for 20 Minutes after you leave, before it becomes abandoned. Restarts timer on camp ifscout comes back to camp before the 20 minute timer runs out.







Improved Camp Kit


+15 to Self-Healing and Buffing, +15 Self-Camoflage, +15 Self-Mask Scent


Seating for 5


Camp lasts for 30 minutes after you leave, before it becomes abandone. Restarts timer on camp ifscout comes back to camp before the 30 minute timer runs out.







High Quality Camp Kit


+10 to Group-Healing and Buffing, +10 Group-Camoflage, +10 Group-Mask Scent


Seating for 8


Jukebox (45 minute Entertainer buff)


Mission Terminal (1 Mission only per player)


Camp lasts for 45 Minutes after you leave, before it becomes abandoned. Restarts timer on camp ifscout comes back to camp before the45 minute timer runs out.







Field Base Kit


+20 to Group-Healing and Buffing, +20 Group-Camoflage, +20 Group-Mask Scent


Seating for 8


Jukebox (45 Minute Entertainer Buff)


Mission Terminal (1 mission only per player)


Faction Mission Terminals (1 mission only per player, based on faction of Ranger which terminal comes up)


Camp lasts for 1 hour after you leave, before it becomes abandoned. Restarts timer on camp ifRANGER comes back to camp before the 1hour timer runs out.







High Tech Field Base Kit (MOVED TO MASTER RANGER)


+30 to Group-Healing and Buffing, +30 to Group-Camoflage, +30 Group-Mask Scent,


Seating for 8


Jukebox (45 Minute Entertainer Buff)


Mission Terminal (1 mission only per player in group, must be grouped with Ranger to use terminal)


Factional Mission Terminals (1 mission only per player, based on faction of Ranger which terminal comes up, must be grouped with Ranger to use terminal, as well as same faction as Ranger)


Shuttleport Pickup (only available for pickup back to the closest starport)


Cloning Center (able to store clone data in camp, If you die out in the field, you can clone at the camp with a larger damage then if you would have cloned at a normal cloning center. If camp is broken down and you die, you will automatically clone at nearest cloning center)


Insurance Terminal


Camp lasts for 2 hours after you leave, before camp becomes abandoned. Restarts timer on camp ifRANGER comes back to camp before the2hour timer runs out.

Believe me when i say that i am pushing for useful camps. Your ideas, combined with the Outdoorsman proposal would be extremely valuable contributions to the camping set.

However, with the new purpose of Rangers being essentially special operations type soldiers, camping as a Ranger skill will be moved to the scout profession. Rather than revamp camps as well, and make them as useful as you have suggested, my personal opinion is that they followed a very "in the box" thinking and just are going to move them.

I get the impression (though i could be wrong) that the movement of camps to scout is pretty much set in stone, and any further improvements in camping would be done to enhance scout in the future and not rangers.

I hate the fact that camps are essentially useless, and want them to be enhanced. However, I know that this would be very low on the priority scale on the devs' timetable.

(But that wont stop me from bringing it up when i can)

gotta agree with Phenix here. In this new incarnation of Ranger, i think large-scale camps would be overkill. Since a New-Ranger will be more of a stealthy recon military unit that would most likely work alone (sounds alot like current rangers though), a New-Ranger would have little use for a HUGE camp, as it's just overkill for a lone soldier. Squad Leader would make alot more sense, as a large camp like a HTFB would make for a great rally point for a squad of troops before an attack.

I'd agree with the Bothan and the bug too (oh dear!). With the changes as proposed for Ranger, camps should really be in Scout or SL. I'd LOVE to see scouts and SL eventually get the modular camp idea (someone should get it, it's a great idea!).



Tho I really will miss my HTFB ,and having my own crafting station. Now I need to try and find a MDE that hasn't quit (so far everyone one I have contacted has) to build a storage droid w/a crafting module in it, since our stuff will be experimentable, but that's only good if we have a crafting station... and I did soooo want to have a Ranger quest for the Rodian hunter camp. Maybe Scout will get that...

Hey everyone, I dont' post here often, but I always look in about my Ranger alt to see what's the word. Anyway, I really agree camps could be an AWESOME and important addition to the scout or elite-scout type professions and if we do think camps shouldn't be in ranger, I'd really think we should at least pass on to SL or Scout so they can push for it. I wouldn't want to see awesome ideas like those additions to camps fall through the cracks just b/c camps are leaving ranger, ya know?

I read somewhere in the forums that traps are not going to be usable in cities. This is wrong. I can see many instances of bombs in cities... I mean traps. To take out enemy combatants. They already said they would work on creatures this is the only other issue I have with traps. As most Bases are located in cites this would make ranger worthless for defense.

Dude, you're totally hookin a brother up, between that sweet R.I.S. and Marauder and now this! If he's interested in the business, just point me in the right direction. I've got some droids I need that have to do stuff (like crafting & storage) plus some needs for "chassis only" for decorating. Gotta get that POB decked OUT to impress thelovelyTwi ladies.

One more question.


I read that we would be using bio signatures for triggering devices. Since we are losing area tracking will be be gaining the use of Bounting Hunter tracking droids?


What droids if any will we require.

We are supposed to be using Imperial Tracking Satellites...I can only guess what that implementation will be like (Sounds a lot like BH tracking droids to me...). It will be interesting to see what our tracking turns into. It sounds a lot like we need to have found the target at least sometime before we need to track it .
