you make a good point, because in the end, you'd need to travelling with a HUGE group to need a field base, and if you're solo, most of the time a basic camp will do just fine. so in the end, we grind for scenery. don't get me wrong, i love the scenery (even though they deplete my resources like mad), and I grind to have access to that very scenery, but its almost pointless to rag on the grinders, because almost evety crafting profession is NOTHING BUT GRINDING in the end.

anyhow, thanks for the lively debate. good opinions all 'round.

Look if you dont want to grind dont.. Simple as that.

None the less it is an accepted and utilized (by nearly everyone) part of the game. Survival is a bit useful but no where near as useful as before the "Pet and Vehicle outta thin air nerf". That single change destroyed the value of camps.

Why were camps valuable before?

-Prior to an engagement it was a default moment where the group gathered to pull pets, say a few words of strategy, basically meet and greet.

-After the engagement it was a place to call vehicles, heal wounds, diseases, etc that were neglected in the "heat of battle". They were a convieniant place to swap skills, for those who had enough xp. Most importantly was a default moment where people discussed the engagement often humorous, jokes, teasing whoever died or did something funny.

In short prior to theanywhere vehicle/pet call nerf, camps served as a social interaction point. They encouraged group identity and facilitated meeting your group members.

The removal of camps in practice did more than just making pets and vehicles easy to call, it was a step in the direction of destroying group dynamic and was another step towards the common practice of solo grouping.

It wasbad, not just for scouts and rangers but for the player community as a whole.

So now, since camps serve no practical purpose...Grind away, if you dont, fine but dont try telling anyone that grinding survival is somehow in poor taste.
