Just so that milltech's contribution does not get lost, here is a reference to it:

Great new tactic for all Ranger/Scouts when dealing with BAF critters. If done right this can pullANY mob away from its herd.

  1. Put onmaskscent/conceal

  2. Walk within 50-60mof the target.

  3. Shoot onebleed

  4. Hit peace

  5. Walk 80-100m away from target.

  6. As soon as the first bleed takes place the critter will charge you ALONE.

  7. Wait until the creature is outside of the 64m radius around his friends.

  8. Trap 'em, knock 'em down, just do whatever you need to do to kill 'em

  9. Rince and repeat.

I have tested this on everything from Snorbals to Rancors to Kimos. Works everytime!

I've noticed this too. I cansolo aggro social stuff on Dath since the patch this way easily enough.

However, I'm not sure if this is intended or a bug. I can easilypull one social aggro giant baz nitch away from 4 other ones who were all literally on top of each other by doing this.Since maskscent doesn't break now when we initiate combat, it makes perfect sense that they wouldn't notice when you initially apply the bleed. However, as soon as the first bleed 'ticks' and the initial mob takes damage, all of the nearby social mobs should charge my position not just the one you applied the bleed to.

I have a feeling this won't last too long.......

"I'm not sure if this is intended or a bug."

Well the main requirement of this approach is to have the other creatures beyond the 64m range.

  • Some of you may recall that I posted about how the system does not bother running code for creatures a certain distance from any player.

  • NRaas: A suggestion for Maskscent

It sounds as if Nerfburger's tactic relies on this "feature" of the system.

Hmmm...

And make sure you don't pull the critter too far away from its spawning point or else *poof*, it disappears. I hate it when I get a dewback down to it's final HAM points and *poof*, where did he go? I hate that! Gotta make the kill quick. Good tip, I've been caught using this method a few times. I just have to practice a bit more.
