Fine...if a tree falls in the forest and it kills a mime, does anyone care? And Yes, I can clap with 1 hand.Message Edited by Calculus_Entropy on 10-20-2004 09:30 AM
Well, since you can't be a mime for profession in game as far as I know, we can assume that the mime is a spawned NPC. If there is a tree there to fall on said mime, we can also assume that there is SOME player there in the vicinity that caused said tree and said mime to spawn in the first place.
So, if *I* was that player... I'd absolutely care. It'd probably be the funniest thing I saw in the game in a while, and I'd spend at least a good 5-10 minutes laughing my butt off! It's all about making your own content isn't it...
Well, both the tree and the mime could have been random spawns. For the tree to fall it'd need different artwork from teh common or garden tree and so could be considered a form of NPC.
If that was the case, it is just as likely that the tree aggroed on the mime spontaneously.
Look, it starts to make a creepy sense if you thnk of all those NPC's that've been partially digested by trees, rocks, houses, harvesters...
So, whoevers mission the mime was would care.

Well JBMat, paralopes on those planets aren't really surprising. Both Corellia and Talus are in the same solar system, one that has been heavily inhabited by starfaring intelligent beings for centuries. So it is not unreasonable that at some point in time large animals, like paralopes, where introduced into the wild on a non-native planet. It could have been on accident (escaped form ranches) or on purpose, but it is logical all the same.
That is not like the original question's situation. Tatooine and Endor are not in the same system (they appear to be on rather opposite ends of the galaxy, and neither is as heavily traveled or populated as the the Corellian system.

If squills are anything like me, they did this:
1) Boarded a transport bound for Endor.
2) Sat around for seven minutes before being banished to the log-in screen.
3) Tried to log in again.
4) Sat around for seven minutes before being banished to the log-in screen.
5) Exited the game, then sat around for four minutes waiting to return to Windows.
6) Reloaded SWG, selected their character, and logged in.
7) Went out to the balcony for a smoke.
8) Returned to the computer to find themselves, as if by magic, on Endor!
There you have it, easy as pie. Aggravating, frustrating, forehead-vein-throbbing, bitter-as-ashes-in-your-mouth pie. Mmmm, pie.

It's the same way with Naboo and Rori. Both of them have Gungans and kaadu. Now, I'm pretty sure that the kaadu brought the gungans with them, since we all know that no one would trust a gungan with a spaceship, but I don't know who brought the kaadu to Rori. Maybe it was a mime...

OK, another theory for the existence of same/similar breeds on other planets.
Provided you belive in the Darwinian model it follows that certain breeds evolve to fill a particular ecological niche. If that niche is substantially similar in different regions there is a chance the creature willlook the same or significantly similar.
Now if you send a botanist to the area to identify the local species and he dosn't have much imagination there is a good chance that he/she will reuse all or part of the name of an existing creature to describe the discovered creature.
Thats my spitball excuse

I think the Squils got zapped to the other system by Einstein and then went on to adopt his hairdo as a way of saying thank you..
