Thread: To buff or not to buff, that is the question.

I've been experimenting over the last few days with reducing the amount of specials I use (Speed Capped Master Rifleman) and found that, with only using specials to create state effects or posture changes, I can take down most creatures just wearing a good suit of Ubese armor and a combat R3 and with just food or spice buffs.

However, being fully buffed in 80% resist composite and sending my droid in on a lair and spamming Strafe Shot 2 on the lair turns me into a creature killing machine. This works even against Rancors.

Honestly, it all comes down to style. I'm sure veteran players know the tricks, and we're just going to have to learn the new ones come the CURB. If buffs are nerfed, we will learn how to survive in the new environment...

Like most of the other replies, it depends on what I'm doing. My rifleman/ranger on Starsider is set up......in my opinion, but stat suggestions are alwasy welcome.......for hunting unbuffed by having 800/800/1000 (HAM in that order) on a rodian with maxed mind secondaries. I figure the lower HA secondaries are not a big deal since a couple quick stims and I'm back to full health faster than I could ever regen it with maxed secondaries on a rodian. Usually I only get buffed on that toon if I'm trying to harvest as much of a resource as possible for $$$ or if I"m somewhere ugly like Dath since his combat skills aren't very high yet. My main toon on Bria is always buffed though because he is grinding for FS xp which means kill anything I can as fast as I can which means spamming powerful specials and not wanting to worry about killing myself with them. I usually hunt huurton stalkers with him because they have low kinetic/blast resists and I only have to worry about buffs not armor there. Worst case I may lose half my health bar right at the beginning when I start spin attacking the lair and everything pops out but that's why he has stims too. I used to use armor until I figured out I didn't need it for those and stims are cheaper than blowing up a piece of armor the first time you repair it lol.
