Wanted to add, in response to those who feel that BF should heal in camps, I don't agree. However, if they were going to make this change, it should not be available until the High Tech Field Camp. And even then, the rate at which it gets healed should be half of what it is in a Cantina. If your camp is lucky enough to have an entertainer present, maybe it can happen a bit faster, but not more than .80 of the rate you get in a Cantina. I feel that having entertainers in the Cantinas adds to the immersion factor.

I think that Rangers would benefint from a Tracking tree.

I would like to have the ability to Track down SPECIFIC species of animals. I like selling hides on the bazaar and it sucks having to aimlessly roam around trying to eventualy locate the animal I want. Seems really dumb to me that neither scout nor ranger can do this.

As it is Ranger is REALLY REALLY disapointing.

Other than wayfaring there really isnt anything else that i want out of the class as it is.

This thread hits the biggest issues, which I think is a great starting point. Good work Mineras!

Incredible job! Clear and to the point. Although it may not be the top 5 issues, I would still love to see a skill along the lines of Taxidermy. This would flesh out the profession and not disrupt balance in the least.

I already threw my two cents in today but I just thought of something else.

To me it doesn't make any sense that someone with the amount of survival skill can't even eat the meat they harvest without a chef there to make it into something weird. I know the chefs have it harder then all of us right now so I don't want anything that would take away from them, but even if I was just able tolike actually use the campfire or stoves in the camps to make something edible, I would be very happy. Actually I would even be perfectly happy if fish meat was the only meat you could do this with, I find it very unrewarding when I catch a fish and can't eat it after I make those nice fillets. Plus the small amount of fish meat you collect and turn into food would in no ways interfer with the foods providing by a chef. It would just be comparable to another foraged food except its much more fun to obtain. Maybe I enjoy the fishing in the game more then most but I still think it would be pretty cool to have a "grilling" skill.

I'd like it so that we didn't have major failure issues when making traps and camps if we're *not* trained in Engineering. We aren't artisans, and some of us need those skill points for other things that we want to pursue with our character. Have failure rate based off of quality of items and skill in trapping. A Trap Master should not fail often when making their items.

(A bit peeved about the five failures in a row yesterday on WIRE MESH TRAPS when using 543 OQ bone and 860 OQ hide.)

Looks good to me and here is my two cents

The way I always have pictured the Ranger in SWGs is sort of as a master at taking down creatures. Basically, while the Bounty Hunter is supposed to be the best against NPCs, the Ranger would be the best against wildlife. The other main purpose of the ranger of course being camps to help fascilitate travel to the wild planets in order to take down said creatures. Everything you suggested I think should go in but I think one of the biggest areas of emphasis needs to be in the ability for a Ranger to be able to take down animals very well.

If Rangers developed even more their creature take down abilities, then the instant value to PvP becomes obvious...Rangers would be the natural counter to CHs. You want to make Rangers more viable in PvP? Bring back a variation of conceal and let it work against CH creatures so that they can't target us or have difficulty attacking us. Give us more effective traps, make the to hit bonus more effective and/or add in some special creature take down abilities. Then bingo, you have your purpose for Rangers for the PvP crowd and you add some more differentiation from the scouts.

Mineras as stated you've managed to hit most, if not all the immediate problems we are facing as of now.

SolrFlare I agree with you 100% on rangers being the natural counter to CH's.

Here is what I envision when I think of a Ranger in SWG. Some of these things have/are going to be adressed while as others are my ideas joined with others.

They would be able to navigate terrain better and overall run faster than other professions due to their experience in dealing with all types of terrain.

They should be masters of the wild and be able to sneak past creatures that no other player can.

They should be experts in dealing with taking down creatures through their multiple effectice traps. We need more types of traps! 2 isn't enough for profession. Something I would like to see added would be a good DoT trap such as a poison or venom like suggested. Venom tipped blowart anyone?

It has been stated we are no good in PVP at all. At least make our traps useable against enemy CH pets and if possible players.

Our camps are not much better than those of a scout.

Regarding the whole concealment/cloaking in pvp I think most of us are looking for....

Here are some of my ideas....

I dont know about total cloaking/invisibility like in other games such as EQ or DAOC, so I'll just focus on concealment from enemy radar.

☼ Have an ability to take you off the enemies radar. This could depend on skill level the ranger has with such an ability, and/or how close you get to the enemie(s), and/or a duration of the ability. Most effective at a distance when you are in prone position perhaps?

☼ Concealment via item like a camoflaged tarp or debris covering. This would look like a earth colored netted material that you could use to put over the top of you while you lie down. This could be a crafted item possibly. The most basic one would be taking yourself off radar and perhaps look a little bulky and noticeable if someone were to see you up on top of a hill. The next level of these items would be made with more crafstmanship and more materials to blend in with the surroundings. Perhaps the highest level would be able to hide 2 people under it?

☼ Concealment in camps. If the ranger so chose to he could set up a camoflage tarp over type of camp to shield it and its occupants from radar up until a certain ranged. Much like the giant camoflage mesh netskused in the army to hide bases from airstrikes. Up close it would be easy to spot, but from a distance it would be hard to detect and therefore it would be cloaked from radar. It would be easy to spot a large hump such as this so perhaps it would be required to dig the camp somewhat deeper into the ground creating a lower profile. This camp would be of use versus people who like to turn the radius of their radar way up to help hunt members of opposing factions.

Please share your comments and lets turn this poor ranger class around in the right direction!

Maybe I should clarify what I mean by I dont know about cloaking/invisibility.....

My only idea for actual cloaking/invisibility would be to keep players on radar but to make them invisible/mostly transparent and still able to be targetted once they are within say 100m of opposite faction member. Perhaps for those who are sloppy at paying attention to radar would be in for a little surprise? I don't have a really good idea for that because I can't think of a non-fantasy way that would work without some million credit special suit using the same power darth maul had on his ship....no idea heh.

Disappearing from radar is an amazing idea. I'm sure you guys have thought of it already, since I've only been here for a short time, but it just makes sense in every way possible. Also make the name and such appearing overhead turn off, and you have a skill that can only be exploited by those with, believe it or not, skill, and to great advantage. Imagine crawling with a bunch of Rebel friends through the tall grass outside of Coronet City waiting for some Imperials to come out, and then surprise on their faces when you pop out, having surrounded them without being noticed.

Heh, and another thing, tailored clothing would actually matter insofar as being camoflauged, literally, from being seen by enemies on-screen. It's perfect. Sorry to be spamming the main issues thread, though, I'll stop now ;-P
