My opinion is that Rifleman in MUCH more efficient for ranger, than TKM. Now i have never tried TK, but when i am hunting with a TKM, they are always running after there targets, especially if the prey are runners, or flyers.

With Rifles, i NEVER move. I use maskscent, and park myself 20m from the lair, and snipe all of the spawns, and send in the droid to harvest. Then i tap the lair, and snipe everything that spawns. This is much more faster, and i can collect more in a shorter period of time, than if i was to run after everything.

Although, TKM does have power boost, and can heal there own wounds. But the pure effeciency of rifles, coupled with maskscent and good maskscent clothes, and conceal shot, allows you to hunt basically anything un-buffed.

Also, the idea of hunting with a rifle is more "rangery". I dont think anyone runs into the woods, and chases down a deer, tackles it to the ground, then gives it a few uppercuts to the jaw.

Well the only time I'm bothered about efficiency is when I'm gathering resources which I would probably be doing buffed anyway although. Being able to hit almost anything...hard...is a very attractive idea I have to say.

On rifles being more rangery, I think its tough to say. For me, being self suficient and living off the land is how I view ranger. In this idea making a rifle would be quite hard Although I do see where you are coming from. It's so hard to decide I reckon TKM will end up winning though, the meditate line is just so useful!

I'm a TKM/Ranger and love it. I was master rifleman, too, but dropped it because I kept getting incapped everytime a mob would rush me. As for hunting unbuffed, well, I wouldn't recommend it with any profession, at least if you're going to hunt anything worth your time.

Its all about technique, im always hunting un-buffed. Its all about the food buffs, i drink one garmorl, and one brandy. And i use conceal shot, if the critter rushes you, use warning shot to send them in the opossite direction, then pumble them with SS2.

But if you always have maskscent on, you can usually kill stuff, or greatly wound them, before they even know whats happening.

Don't forget P-Darts and running like a little girl. If your unbuffed it happens. by that time I have my normal 5 -6 headshot3s in it and its either close to over or I shouldn't have been messing with it in the first place. As a Master Rifleman I can get in both mindshots and the begining and get the rest of my normal 5 -6 shots off, if its going to be a nastsy long fight. Then when I peace/run/heal its still dieing while I'm fixing my self up.

SS2 is nasty evil shot that should be avoided at all costs. Good for wacking on 5 nunas at once maybe. Or kill stealing, about it. I'll take 3x damage in one pool over 5x damage in a random pool any day of the week.
