Is there a cap on bioengineered bonuses?

Nah, I've got to reply to this properly.

OK. The Hat.

iirc the Hat started off as a joke, it has remained a joke, it will remain a joke. It's a bit of fun.

'it should have a storage capacity so you can keep things under your hat'
'it should have a peko peko feather in...'
etc.

Given the state of mind of most of the players here I'd think we are entitled to have a bit of a laugh over a clothing item? Especially as it was also concieved as a direct counter to those garments.

If the worst came to the worst and we actually GOT a hat? Heck, I'd wear it. Even if it was ten time uglier than the Ceremonial Headress.

Why? Because it's OURS and its a bit of fun.

I can't see why you think the hat / ghillie suit thing is an either or situation. Dammit, after the amount of time we've been waiting I'd say we deserve both.

But, I would say that, although it would be cool to have the ghillie suit for rangers it is really more an item associated with one form of combat and one form only. A melee shrub would just look daft, eh?

So, let the riflemen campaign for the ghillie suit, ranged rangers will support them as it helps enhance their profession. Thing is, where do you eventually stop? What about the melee rangers? Shouldn't they get a huge hunting knife?

Finally, the Hat became less of a joke item because it became symbolic of the profession itself. It would be an item exclusive to Rangers, something that draws them out from the crowd, screams "Yes, I've mastered Scout AND Ranger and tied up a shedload of SP doing it... what's YOUR problem??"

Ya know, with so many things that Rangers have been trying to get turning up in other trees recently, I'm more and more drawn to the idea of pushing for the Hat for real. Yeah, let it be tailor craftable, from ranger quest items. Let it have some storage, or a few sockets for mods, or be able to be made with BE cloths.

Eye candy? It's a badge of merit, of supreme achievement, of tenacity and sheer bloodymindedness. It says "I'm not 'just' a super-scout. I have suffered the endless tedium of wilderness survival, have hacked and slayed my way through mounds of carcasses ripping their hides and flesh apart with nothing more than my bare teeth, I've stared Enraged rancors in the face and hit them for all I'm worth with state traps that don't do anything, I hear the sound of failed traps in my sleep, I can find any living creature that the server has decided is there (apart from the ones at 128m but I'll get them later). I thrill at the thought of maskscent breaking, I live for the risk taht my cammo hasn't taken. All this I have suffered and ALL I GOT WAS THIS DAMN HAT!!"

(ymmv)

Only enlight of this post do I agree with your reasoning sir.

The hat becomes a "I Mastered Ranger and all I got was this damn Hat."

In that case Yes to the hat.

If we get that knife we should be able to shave with it. Would only minimallyimpact IDs.
