well I dislike stars and exclamation points in thread titles, yes. but is that the reason I dislike the idea? No, not really. I dislike the idea itself, although it might be safer to say that I prefer other ideas. I think this is again moving Rangers away from where we should be heading, which is a survivalist/recon unit that has a greater role in the GCW and a place in PvP. This idea brings us right back to the "spawn camper" mentality that I didn't like about farming. It's a little different, but it leaves the same taste in my mouth.
A "lure trap" that pulls creatures away from a lair one by one is a smart idea, (proposed by someone else, not me, not trying to give myself an ego boost). But that's a one-time deal and used whilehunting large lairs of creature WHILE HUNING NORMALLY.This just seems like another iteration of the same idea I heard yesterday about farming, only with a slightly different twist. Same basic plan though. Ranger places item down. Ranger sits and waits. Ranger shoots animals like fish in a barrel. Not a very fun way to play the game (in my opinion).
I don't dislike the idea because of the stars in the title, Dariane. I was just noticing an odd true-ism. The more * and ! in a post, the less likely I am to agree with it.

I think I understand your point tough. I do not camp myself nor like farming (no challenge).

Maybe if it could only be done for the *large* creatures, like krayts, gdk and so on. Those creatures would have a chance to break free and eat you for breakfast (or lunch or dinner
.
I do not see this idea as "let put down those traps and wait until they fall in"... It requires an active part of the ranger for hunting.
As for the "lure" kind of trap, that would/could be an additional trap to be used in conjunction with this "fall" trap.
Using a "lure" trap to get a creature to come after you, likely violently, you run back to the first setup trap (don't forget to walk around it, or you might get yourself in it!) and hope the creature will literally fall for it (or in it). Then you need to be able to kill it within a certain time frame before it might be able to free itself. Ranged attacks would still be possible, so creature is not entirely defenseles..

I thought so, that's why I challenged you a bit
I'm just throwing some ideas around that spin inside my head.
The Farm idea I look upon as a collection of bread (almost tamed) creatures that gaze back at you when you cut their throuts, cause they're bred for domestication (pigfarms, chickenfarms and so on). That idea I definately do not like.

Oh and for the record I did spend more time as a Master Ranger than a Jedi so don't jump on me to hard for trying to look out for one of my fav professions ok CuchulainnDarklight ?
Actually, I didnt really jump on you that hard mate!
If you had felt the full force of my venomous wrath you woould know the difference! Luckily nursey came round with my medication.
I just can never agree with any farming, harvester style trap idea. Thats ok for crafters, not hunters!
It would remove the only fun left in ranger. the HUNTING!
