yes you can I did it to ranger/rifleman my problem is I cant master both I am short just 1 sp as I have 3 points in fs I thought you would be able to drop or respec those but you cant

few pointers

You can respec to Ranger Skills.
You can respec from a combat profession to Ranger but at the moment, Ranger costs 1 more Elite point than any other skill.
Ranger will most likely be capped back to 1 million on the next patch which should be the 5th of May with ROTW.
What I did was - get Novice Creature Handler and Novice Squad Leader, these 2 combined give you enough to Respec to Master Ranger and leave you 1 Elite point spare.
You can Respec from Standard Points to Elite Points on a 2:1 Ration CUrrently Master Ranger costs 13 Elite points meaning you would need 26 Standard.

Yes, it's still capped. I had enough Carbine and Combat xp to respec Master Carbineer and the last box in the fourth branch over to Ranger and then just re-trained them. Worked like a charm. So there's now a new Master Ranger/Master Carbineer on Chilastra. WooHoo!

On topic, you don't HAVE to pick up alternate skills with your Respec Elite points. You can just untrain a single scout xp line of Ranger, and the game will save those Elite points. Retrain enough of the boxes in the dropped line normally (capped at 600k you can instantly retrain 3 boxes I believe) and viola, at the next respec you have enough Elite points to Master Ranger without having to shuffle normal skill points around with another profession.

I solved the cap problem too. I had Master Swordsman and Ranger 4444 with 600k XP at the cap. Then I respeced to Master Ranger and Swordsman 3444 and went hunting with my guildies until I got 1 mio. scouting XP. Then I respeced back to Master Swordsman and learned Master Ranger easily from the trainer. Sooo, there is a new born Master Swordsman / Master Ranger on Infinity now... oh yeah!

And now I read, that they are fixing the Conceal thing... oh happy day *sing*
