Congrats
Sorry to hear about your unfortunate rifle experience, but other profs are equally valid for a Ranger. It's not like we can ever have an über template *sigh*

Congratulations!
And just a thought but when you get into Creature Handler, you may find the rifle could be useful. If your pets bear the brunt of the assaults, you wont be in hand to hand as much and therefore the rifle may be as useful.
Having said that I am working my way towards Master Ranger and Master Creature Handler, and have stuck with Pistoleer

Congrats.. Yeah, it's unfortunate about dizzy. I've always wanted to throw a dizzy trap or use a dizzy attack, and then lay down suppression fire on creatures, but alas..
Wish they would change the dizzy traps to knockdown traps.

Welcome to the Master Ranger club. And yes sorry about the HTFB and the traps we're working on it. Although the stun does help with that trap. And the HTFB just looks really cool and impresses people.

Hi all,
Thanks for the warm greeting. Apparently my post was worth it in game as well, since someone hired me for pirate hunting (unfortunately I couldn't find anything).
I was bit by a pistoleer bug, too, when I shot up the tree for /bodyshot3 only to find out it is worse than /bodyshot2
That being said I have picked up a rifle and started using it. I'm now at Rifles II in the marksman tree, and with my trusty Tusken rifle I am now doing several hundred damage per shot.
I've also made it to a GDK hunt, and a rancor hunt, since I achieved master ranger. The first I was tracking for, and did not find any, except for the one that spawns at kimo town. Oddly enough, he spawned as soon as I arrived.
The rancor hunt was mission-based, and with 15 people we were killing them so fast I couldn't even call my pet before the lair guardians were dead.
I am surprised at the lack of power in the rancors. I would have thought they'd be almost impossible, but apparently not in the current age of SWG.
Only needed to camp once during the GDK hunt, because the fellow I was with was soloing and needed to heal his wounds.
Build traps for the rancors, but didn't even get a chance to throw them since they were dying so fast
I can see, though, how I'm going to enjoy rangering, and it involves a shift in gameplay. Giant group buff hunts are good occasionally, but aren't very good for rangers to shine. I'm more and more intrigued with this no-buff hunt idea.
Anyone on Intrepid, give me a shout for a group hunt! I am always up for a big game hunt if I've got the time.
