See, it makes the people we stole from happier because they get some retribution. We can also raise our prices since there was such a high cost in "lives". After dying a few times, a Bothan can retire in style on all the compensation paid to their "family".

At worst a lot of Bothans get some bruises and spend an inordinate amount of time being tended by attractive members of the opposite sex. Consider it hazard pay. It's a rough life being a spy.
