Joe AFK gets a camo job as I walk by. 90% of the macroers depend on bad faction, as the thugs are not naturally aggro. The thugs are low enough for the camo to work semi well enough to count. I watched as one AFK got to stand there for the duration of the camo pack, nothing aggro'd him. I felt so bad.

JB,
I used to do this trick alot, but it seems that the macros they are using now have targeting commands in them so they can still attach the spawns even if camo'd (if they are smart). I used to love running by and camoing these afk grinders (purely for their safety, of course). fun trick to do.

I'd still do it:
- Most of those are melee d00ds. They might target & attack but nuttin' gonna happen if they are distant.
- Static spawns are not all that "static". After an hour they get "rotated" and while not close enough for combat are close enough for that "faction aggro". That's when best to get them

- Given the above, I have noticed that you can sometimes attack an NPC and have his buddies not care if you are camo'd. Not all NPC but the meatlumps and swoopers will sometimes do this. Mercs seem to not even care about camo.

The macro-set of that certain profession faq is for meleers (it just equips a ranged weapon for pulling the target..).
And as I have seen it used, I know it works. Now someone please shoot the person that wrote that FAQ.

cuz I have used macros before (although I wasn't afk cuz I get random disconnects thereby forcing me to be at the computer even though I might not be actively in game) but I would kill creatures. I never used it to kill npcs. If they depend on bad faction then technically they don't need a macro for anything except maybe healing.
I've made at least four melee characters on 4 different servers and going through the first four boxes is the most boring thing to do in the world if you have already experienced the greatness of master. Maybe if you are doing it with friends then its ok but mostly I had to go thru these experiences solo.

So, this would imply that our camo does indeed work against NPCs! I guess I can take it off the list of issues.

It sorta does, but it's a crap-shoot at best. Lower level NPC's have a better chance of effectiveness than the higher level one's.
I used camo at the Emperor's Retreat to allay my -5000 thug faction (you need to haul in a few thugs without killing them) and it worked great. I also camo'ed some peeps there with the same problem and got tells of love and admiration for the profession
On the flipside I have yet to have it work against high-end Tuskens. I still try it though.

If that is the way it works, then we have no right to complain about it not working against NPCs. WE can't conceal past a Krayt, so why should we get to conceal past a NS Elder?

If that is the way it is supposed to work then yes, you're correct; however, I don't even know if I stand a chance camoing against a Tusken Chief versus a commoner. I'd like to see a even a marginal chance that I could slip past that chief. Also it doesn't always work against the commoners either.
With the mixed bag response the Devs gave us on this I'd like a more concrete answer on how it's supposed to work.

The Krayt has a better sense of smell?
