I don't know if you read the same thing I did, but what I read was about a guy throwing traps and running around trying not to die. Using every tool he could to giterdun! Once again you fire at your own troops man. How about instead of taking pot shots at our own people, why not give them some of your age old wisdom instead?
Oh wait I have a better idea, sit on your little self made pedistal instead, and snub your nose down on everyone who isnt the perfect ranger you obviously you are.
I gotta backJB on this. I have got to be the worst Ranger on any two galaxies, and I've asked some pritty dumb questions on this forum. Never the less JB has never flamed me ( at least to my knowledge ). If some one comes across as crying or just not trying and flameing the profession JB pounces.9 times out of 10 hes right. In this caseI can see what hesflaming about. 75% of players pick up a profession and expect it to make them Uber.
Sorry fellas, this isn't one of thoes professions. Ranger requires you to work constantly to perfect your field craft and your strategy. Just because your a doublemaster CL 80doesn't mean you can hunt, it just means you can grind.
Back anyone you want to be. You admit he flamed the guy. JB has said himself he is the "Anger in ranger" JB needs to learn where ot focus his negitivity. Not on other players but in TX and Cali where it belongs.
Try reading what that guy wrote... tell me where he did not do everything in his power to come away with a good kill? Then show me where the guy you are backing helped by giving hints, ideas or anything at all that could teach him a better way.
All I see is one a$$hat preaching from his pile of bantha poodoo.
To the orignal author... If I were you I would go out hunting the larger beasties with a good group... Not even the great and all powerful JB can hunt solo any more, no matter what he claims.

You know, if you're going to insult somebody for having a bad aditude, it's generally good to not turn around and act the same yourself. This "freat and powerful" line is a perfect example of saying one thing and doing another.
I'm in the middle on this one. The OP admitted that he stayed down a bit too much, said his traps didn't work, but didn't provide us with any info on what traps he used, whether they failed to hit or whether they simply didn't work that well, and declared Ranger useless after one lost battle. I'm not a huge fan of that kind of responce. But I do think JB took it a bit too far.
And yes, you can still solo any creature in the game. Since the CU, I've solo'd over 30 goraxs, countless GDKs, a lot of juvie and canyon krayts, and 2 Ancient Krayts. I don't wear armor against creatures anymore, since I can go an entire fight without even getting hit. You can solo ANY creature in the game still, you just have to know how to do it.
Read my guide to hunting big game and if you do things right, you can still solo any creature in the game.

He didn't? what I read was that he did, that he tried to use traps...didnt work, that it closed too fast, that it knocked him down. Hey its great to defend your friends. I respect you guys for doing so. What I said about JB, isn't anything he hasn't said about himself. I have seen him chew on players in theis forum on many occosions. How was he being productive in the least with his comments?
I offered a solution, did he? I stand by what I said. Saying one thing and doing another? When I see someone complsain about something in a way I feel is not justified I make comments about how they could have done it better... Something I do not think even occured to JB. I know you all like him, thats dandy I am not here to be Mr. Popular Ranger. We all care about our image? Well one ranger beating down another because he is sick of being creamed isn't my idea of a good community esp when everyone jumps to the defense of the person trashing said image in the first place.
I am not political. I don't care about JB's standing, mine or yours... if anyone steps wrong they will know what I think, and if I do, I will take your criticism with an open mind.

I ALWAYS trap first, hehe. Which is why i don't get munchified that often. Remember-- a trap that fails to affect your target will not cause aggro, which allows you to always initiate combat. Never go in shooting against big game, it's a good rule to live by.
For the record I think most of you regulars don't like my "in your face" attitude, I don't blame you... Phenix lets hang out tonight and if you are as good as your claims are I will post here tomorrow that I am wrong.
No need to post about it. If you wanna hunt, sure, we'll hunt Gorax for a bit. I've been meaning to talk to Mr. Monkey butt for a while. (no, not Calc, the Gorax) But there's no need to post about it. I don't tell people what I can do to brag, I tell them what I can do to show them their own potential.
Honeslty I can't believe you don't wear armor and you can survive and thrive... if you are honest I will be extremly impressed and a bit embarressed.

Template: Master Ranger/Master Bounty Hunter/Marksman 0103
equipment I use to solo big game-- Speed sliced proton carbine w/ powerup. Around 470 mod damage. Tusken Raider robe, tanned hide boots, tusken glvoes, swoop helm, camo pants, form fitting shirt.CAs- + 1 General Ranged Speed. + 1 General ranged accuracy. + 1 Carbine accuracy. BE shirt +15 to melee and ranged defense and pants +17 camo/mask scent. 4sets of Phecnacine darts.
Food used: typically just brandy, though I do pop an occasional neutron pixie to help with action regen.
I can tell you exactly what I do:
trap critter. If it fails, Idon't get aggro. If it does, it's slow. Instantly KD shot.start running in circle, avoiding hills whenever possible (don't want to lose LoS).I then apply a bleed (bleed ticks for more damage if applied while the creature is KD'd). Alternate advanced critical shot (typically around 800-1500 damage, depending on critter) and the bleed shot (typically between 500-1000 damage). repeat this alternation twice. Trap again. repeat the alternating shots 3 times.trap again. repeat the alternating shots 3 times. if the trap fails, use KD shot and crit shot, followed by another trap. If that fails, i throw on duelist stance and throw another trap. If it misses, I pop a stim and throw another. Usually I don't miss 4 times in a row. If I do, I recomend popping a ruby biel and using another stim. I've never missed 5 traps in a row. If neccesary use dweezel if you don't feel confident in your trapping ability.
Other than that it's a matter or rinse and repeat the trapping and the alternating damaging shots. For big boys like the Ancient Krayt, I'll actually have about 10-12 sets of traps ready.
For the record, it's sad that you think that a 2 year veteran Ranger would have any reason to lie to you about what he's done. I don't know you, I frankly couldn't care less if you believe me. I wrote that guide as a way to help people who may not have solo'd everything in the game, and as an easy tactic for soloing stuff. I really don't see the need to bring you screenshots. The people who know me on my server have seen what I can do, if you really think I have something to prove, you're welcome to come watch me on Eclipse.
I play on eclipse. I would love to hunt with you. I never called anyone a liar, but I personally do not think what you stated makes sense. All mobs will always out run us, our traps are way to slow to fire off as fast as you make it out to seem. The assumption I have is that your traps always work...
