By spin and aoe groups, people are really talking about the same thing. Well, most people, there's two ways to aoe well that I've experienced. The first, and usually most rewarding requires astrong jedi, goes something like this:
Picket lairs are some of the most popular lairs to aoe because they have huge spawns. For these, the jedi puts up all their defenses and begins to do spin attack and dervish(if they have it, targetting the lair). You will most likely need at least one healer on permanent duty healing the jedi. If the jedi is good, they should be able to hold the agro of all the pikets. Then everyone else just aoe shoots/hits the lair as backup damage. Entire fulls lair can go down in less than 2min like this.
The other way, which most people don't do, but I did before jedi, while I was still ranged, goes like this:
Designate a tank and assign healers to watch them. (preferably this is someone with high kinetic armor and healing abilities themselves. The rest of the group positions themselves near to that person and attacks after the tank begins. My favorite tankers are MBH/Mcarbine 4000CM, because they can heal, and have two strong aoe attacks (full auto area and spray shot), I usually sit my firing squads about 20m from the lair. Everyone should aoe the lair unless straggler creatures need to be picked off.
Lately, theaskilled BH associate of mine (who has the before mentioned temp)has been doing a kind of hybrid strategy that I like. He has the nasty habit of outdamaging any jedi, thus pulling agro. He runs in about 15m circles around the lair, leading a trail of pickets. He keeps his cone focused on the main group, and most of the other members hit them also. Jedi and melees stick to the lair, they still manage to get a lot of hits in.
Well, that was the kind of long winded explanation. A big help for the tank can be synthsteak too. Take that at the begining of the lair to help shrug of the initial (and most deadly) wave.
Edit: Hey you're on Eclipse, you should come out with me sometime. Send a tell to Ambasder sometime. Or send a tell to Brigham and I'll get on Ambasder and show you.

Last night i was just getting of the shuttle at Coronet ready for the long hike to Mayhem city, and i was hit by a tell asking for money, now over the past few months i have seen many a begger at Coronet (and even a hilarious toon that shouted " everyones favourite game kick the Twilek only 100 credits per kick" as he layed down on the ground )nowthe toon last night wascl1 maybe a newbie maybe not so i sent back atell offering not money but to form a hunting party with them to get missions and credits i.e work for there cash. After abit of time explaining my proposal and explaining that his/her toon would be safe from harm in the hunt they finally agreed to WORK for some credits.
Now im not one for giving a free ride to anyone without a little hard work, and will now proceed to do this to anyone asking for credits, to separate the poor and lazy fromjust the poor.
Also over the past fewweeks i have been grouping quite alot just for some conversation during the hunt, and i have noticed that most highcl groups shun the lower cl,especially on dantooine,i take any CL on in groups and usually end up with a nice mix of CL. Has anyone had a simialr experience on there servers. Perhaps there is too many powergamers out there?, all concerned with the destination not the journey.
On the up side though i haveseen and meet two Master Rangers on Ahazi also in the past few weeks, the most ive seen ever seen ...........
P.S as there is a good chance none of what is above has made sense feel free to /addignore
Bro, If they dont have a Scout, Ranger, or Crafter tag on.........I dont even talk to them. Its usualy just not worth the trouble. Sad, but true.

I grinded my ranger on Ahazi, where I find the groups to be very much as you describe - only allowing high levels, etc.
However, I recently grinded a toon (not a ranger, sorry) on Valcyn and was pleasantly surprised. The server population is so low there that you can't really be too picky about who you group with and the groups almost always had a wide range of CL's.
Ugh, the beggars. When I was grinding my toon on Valcyn, I saw some guy in Coronet yelling, asking for 50k. I was about his CL (around 20 then), so offered to run some missions with him. I tell him to get missions and we head out. He pretty much just stands there as I kill everyone at the missions. We complete my two and I realize there are no more. He didn't get any missions. I question him about this and he responds: "Can I have 50k?" Disbanded and left. That was so frustrating.
