RIS looks "rangery" and considering you need lots of animal-specific parts, it's the most rangery armor to get. but I actually don't hunt in mine. It's display (at least until the health bonuses work). Last night, I actually went out hunting like I did in the old days- sans armor. Tusken Robe, Tusken gloves, camopants and a Padded armor belt. Using just my darts and my wits, I tore through several mean creatures.

I saw peko peko albatross feathers mentioned a couple times. Just want to make sure everyone knows that they are are not--and never were--a necessary component for RIS. Pre CU, they were used to make RIS layers, which no one used because regular layers or nightsister layers were the better choice. Post CU the feathers are used in the feathered appearance enhancer, which can be used in any armor to add a health bonus.
You also do not necessarily need peko feathers to get the max health bonus on a piece of armor, although they do make it easier. Other enhancers, such as krayt and kimo scales, can be crafted into the armor segments, which are the basic building blocks of armor. The process and pretty complicated, and you should never ask an armorsmith how many enhancers you'd need for a +350 health suit. The answer is always "It depends" because of the factory runs involved and the schematics that have to be made. "It depends" on the bonus of the scales, the number of scales in a stack, the number of stacks you have, and how many stacks of the same size you have.

That's a darn fine specimen, if I do say so! The female Twil's swoon over my scaley hide. I will get some pics up this afternoon that illustrate my point
I never should have made that gender post, eh, Iseult?

This is my Imperial Issue Scout Armor, but instead of the issued helm, i wear a black Mabari Armorweave helmet instead. i find that it gives me a better view of everything around me, thus making me a better Scout.
isn't the best picture for showing off the armor, but is a great pic of me and Draknev after we showed Sordaan who really are the greatest hunters on Kashyyyk.
