Thread: Melee Rangers why bring a knife to a gunfight?
Well, I do both swordsman and rifle.
Part of it is the nobility of sword play. I feel like it harkens back to the D&D rangers and such.
The other part of it is that when a creature takes exception to me shooting at it, I generally get charged.
I could go pistol, but here is my thought process.
I use a rifle, and headshot 1 affects mind.
When it gets in close, I could use a pistol, which would be more "modern" of me, but it drains health, so it would be like starting from square 1.
I use two hand sword and scalp blow to keep working on the mind.
That works better for me.
Now, I don't do a lot of PvP, I am a ranger after all. My choice of weapon v. NPC's normally depends on what they do to me. If they are staying at range from me, I shoot them. If they come in close, I bust em up with the sword.
Don't forget, when they get in close, there is a penalty with the rifle. So it makes even more sense to use a sword.
Just my two cents.
