I also am a Carbineer, along with being a Master Ranger and a Squad Leader, and I'd hate to have to throw all of that carbine experience away for a new weapon, so I'm leaning towards generic buffs/defenses and specials against animals only.

This would also alleviate the need for any debate by the many varied combat types that each Ranger enjoys, from the different ranged weapons to the different melee weapons to unarmed combat and Teras Kasi players. Not to mention the fact that it would probably be a good deal easier to code, making it more likely to be accepted by the developers and SOE.

I would rather see a bonus to attack, irrespective of the weapon used. Don't we already get defense bonuses?

I think the idea of a ranger-specific weapon isa little silly and redundant. We already have them - traps. Yes, thetraps need to be more effective against higher level creatures, butwe do have them and they are cool. =)

Traps cannot be called a weapon, because a Ranger cannot souly rely on traps to hunt. Our profession requires us to have another combat profession to do what we are meant to do. Now if that is not going to change than atleast give us the defensive/offensive mods against creatures. Basicly Hunting Skills in taking down beasts, this especially could bring rangers into larger hunt groups, as we woudl be usefull in taking down large creatures(while traps do nothing).

I would like to see a passive damage bonus against creatures, higher modifier as skill level rises. The accuracy modifier is just not enough, and Rangers need to be the best hunters in the game - not people running around with rocket launchers.

I would also like to a critical, or vulnerability shot. Where there's a chance that a Ranger will hit a known weak spot of a given creature, resulting in massive damage or instant death. Could be a passive or active skill, easy to implement as well.

I know I may be in the minority, but I just don't think we rangers deserve any special combat perks. We already get the to-hit bonus because we supposedly know the weaknesses ofthe game we hunt. I enjoy the fact that ranger is what it is, a master of his territory. That is something totally different than being able to train animalsor fire a gun. Once again, I'm glad that we can choose our own weapons or choose whether we commune with beasts. I like the fact that we aren't cookie cutter like other RPGs.

The Creature to-hit bonus is nice enough. With our traps and stealth, not having a special weapon is a good tradeoff. I think we should get matching Creature Defense bonuses, though.

I would prefer to have a Defence Mod against creatures, and a Damage bonus, whether it be straigt damage increase, or the critical hit chance, either is cool.

My reasoning is this. There are already many weapon types, and many ranger have some points in one or several combat professions. Also, a weapon would only satisfy the ranged Rangers and would not apply to the melee ones. A defence bonus, and damage increase makes us more useful just as a ranger class, and goes across the board. It could also help to distinguish us from Scouts.

I look at it like this. In ranger we get to see what specail attacks creatures have, what defences they have, what their to hit accuracy is, and what their damage is. That meas we know A LOT about an animals fighting styles, weaknesses and strengths. So it totally makes sence that that knowledge gives us the ability to utilize those weeknesses to our advantage (damage bonus) and it makes sence for us knowing about their accuracy/damage that we are able to avoid it better thus (defensive bonus). It all ties in together with the creature knowledge skills we get, so these defence and damage mods should increase as you increase the skill line that gives the Creature Knowledge. Frontiering I think, but what it is.
