Thread: Droid Harvesters
In these situations where i am hunting with scout xp grubbers, I use the droid. Otherwise, its pretty useless since Im melee, and the animal dies right in front of me.
- On the adventure planets, w/ the droid out and grouped, the poor little guy tended to get agro'd very easy. Poor, little guy was getting chased all over the place by those ancient fliers. Funny at first, irritating as all hell when I had to go chasing after him just to kill the bird. Especially when he would run right through a patch of NS's
Spam the follow me command and have a droid repair kit ready for the bigger buggers, instant tankbot.
And yes, it's only really useful on the big buggers dynamically spawned when you're hunting on foot as a rifleman, but in that situation, it's perfect ![]()
Fortunately, that's my favorite hunting method ![]()

I see why a rifleperson (bowing to Ebe) would want one. But after my abortive venture into hand to gland - I am once again grinding pistols.
I did a small test. I was on Endor, crazed gurrecks were the target. I took on 2 lairs, a total of 18 creatures. Not counting the 4 babies who wandered in. Of the 14 left, I had to move to harvest - twice. Not being a stat rat, still that's above 85% of the harvest I did not have to move my feet to get. The other two aggro'd my droid and slid down the hill I was standing on, so I followed to get the harvest.
The droid I was using was there for the XP boost only, plus some tanking from time to time.
I honestly would rather have a tank/fighter than a harvestor. When my fecal matter hits the rotating air movement device, I want something there that can save me - and the droid has a few times - from being DB'd.
Again, nothing against 'em, but to anyone who fights at close range, I think harvestors are a waste of creds.

Having started up the Rifleman tree, I thought that using my droid harvester would be good when I had a tank around (i.e. Master Doc in Comp Armor). We were Endor, so the kills took a while, and I was able to concentrate a little more on using the little guy. It was fine for that particular situation, but once the speed at which I kill things increases, it will be less useful, as I can harvest much more efficiently by myself.
You have a Master Doc tank for you? He must be nuts!
Sorry, I had to do it.

hey i love the new driods. They can harvest while you are attacking and their rating goes up to 120
so they harvest 20% better than you do.
Well - the problem is that the harvesting unit requires copper, steel, and inert gas and the two factors that determine the rating of each harvesting unit are OQ (overall quality) and COND (conductivity). This is no problem with copper (it's actually quite common to find copper with OQ and COND over 900), nor is it a problem for the gas (well gas doesn't have COND), but steel with high OQ and high COND is very rare, so this keeps the effectiveness of these modules down.
So, what this means is that 120 rated harvesting droids will be really rare, if not altogether non-existent. And I can see the logic in this, as the droids can be used by non-rangers as well as rangers, but I wish the devs would have thought of some way to have these droids help us that didn't rely on the most advanced crafters using the most rare resources + tons of experimenting food, etc... to get the droid's rating as high as possible.
On Bloodfin, my alt got a lucky experiment and crafted a schematic for modules rated at 18+ (they were probably closer to 19) and used the harvesting modules from this factory run to make me a 113 rated droid. Other than that, the highest he has made is a 108 level droid (using the last three modules from the 18+ factory run). He now has the resources to make 106 rated droids (though not enough to mass produce them), and he can make 104 rated droids with no difficulty.
