BUURP!!
And curry tonight...
i still don't like the idea of a French Fry Sandwich, but Curry is a fine idea. wish there was a good Indian food place near me.![]()
Lollage.
You're being hampered by your imagining it as a French Fry Sandwich instead of embracing the hot, buttery bread and potato feast that is a chip butty.
Dunno why these soft southerners insist on using bread when a floury roll is several orders of magnitude better.
Hmmm
Roll (or bread), Deep Fried Potatoes, and Butter.
Doctor Atkins would be rolling over in his grave. Not that i'd follow that hair-brained diet anyway. Give me Pasta, or Give me Death. On second thought, just give me pasta. ![]()

never forget south Boston. Lot of good punk bands came outta there. Pixies pretty much brought punk back to the East Coast. and whileI'm not a huge punk fan, I do own someClash and sex pitols CDs.I think there are a few punk bands coming out in the states now that are really doing some good. But I'm more of an old-school rock fan. Huge Classic Rock fan, own a bunch of Rolling Stones, Mellencamp (hmmm...melons and camps...very Rangery), Clapton, the Doors, good ol' Dylan...is it sad that I still love music that came out decades before I was born?
But pure good rock, that focuses more on substance than style and TV ratings seems to be dead in America. There are many good alternative bands (and I do love alt. rock) but the bands I listed seem to be bringing back the true soul of rock. A bunch of Stereophoncs songs have ring of the Stones, which is a welcome sound in my book.
you want some good music comin' outta Bah-stahn, than check out The Dropkick Murphys. I love this band. Not only for their great songs, but they've got a great sound. Hell, they've got bagpipes and accordians in alot of their songs.
and classic rock, well, it rocks.
and thanks to this talk about The Clash, i dug out my copy of London Calling, and i'm listening to that while i work.

Somebody needs to do a psychological examination into why threads with the word 'buttie' become so popular.
You think there's some deep seated psychological reason why folk are drawn to them?
(Personally I think it's because we all know, but won't even admit to ourselves, that most of the time we're talking out of our... floury baps)

doah, you know why, we all like a little 'buttie' now and then.
I made a killer chip butty a couple days ago with a fistful of garlic fries and half a french roll. No brown sauce, though-- that stuff is hard to find here. Had to settle for ketchup, but it was still quite tasty. I believe I washed it down with a weinhard's orange cream soda, which is pretty much a liquified/carbonated 50/50 bar.

I cannot believe that a perfectly good thread about good food was hijacked in a couple of places by people saying the dreaded word DIET.
Its quite simple, eat like a horse and you bloody well better run like a horse to work it off!
And actually the best meal you can have is an Ulster fry, perfect breakfast food, bacon, eggs, fried soda bread, fried potatoe bread and 4 hours in the gym beforehand to prepare for it, yum yum. Perfect hangover food too, if you dont puke by the time you finish, youll be OK!
And personally I find food in american bland, not necessarily in taste but because its all the same, from mickyDs to the Golden Palace, its all been homogenised, at least when I go out I know i will get something close to how it tastes in its homeland, the legacy of an Empire has some strange benefits. Plus I can finish it off with a real beer, definately not Guinness, that crap is for tourists and poets who think it makes them arty.
heh. As if one single Irish kid on the easten seaboard could avoid them. I live in Worcester,I'm guaranteed hearing at least 4 Dropkick Murpheys songs every friday and saturday night.

By tourists, I of course mean Americans who come over here and say they are "Oirish" and want to see their homeland, despite none of their family having been here in 100 years!
Is it war now?
well my dad's an Irish citizen so I guess that doesn't count, hehe. I'm actually planning on getting my Irish Citizenship and moving there after college.
but then again, you did disgrace the name of Guiness, which I do love...so...I'll hold off on the war for now. maybe. ![]()
