I have both, and no innate armor is for tkm not Ranger. Hence one of the reasons I don't wanna berequlated to Carbines as a Ranger pre-req.

I don't see that dodge exists anymore in-game, melee and ranged defense mods pretty much covers it for us these days, judging by all the other defense mods in all other branches (besides IA) no matter whether you're ranged or melee

Well one could say, that through years of living in the wilderness and being on the move, a ranger gains a sort of "intence aviodance" technique of their own which has nothing to do with ninjas.

The TK Innate Armor is meant to reflect years of intensive avoidance training, I think giving the new Ranger any kind of Innate armor is not a good idea..seeing ashow they are more para-military types.
Giving the new Ranger IA would just lean the profession a little to more towards that of a Ninja style.. or you could say Sith, I see the current era Sith as kind of evil Ninja/Samurai ideology (the trueSith beings are long dead.. supposedly).
that's my 2c

The main point of innate armour or damage mitigation for a ranger is so that players can wear spec ops dusters, cargo vest, pants, sandals, ect.. and still be viable without being a tk or jedi. I just feel that another class that isn't melee based should have that option, be it rangers or smugglers, ect.. You didn't see han solo running around battle armor and unfortunately in this game without innate or regular armor you can't compete, especially in pvp.

Most definitly not...
Yes im slightly biased.... TKM + Ranger (or trying to get there)
But melee is already being scrizewed with the marksman requirement...
w/e ill just go rifle.. but aside from that.. imagine a no armor tanker with a rifle that can stealth around and snipe u 60m away fro 1200 dmg .... and then rehide.. track you.. a true assasin (unarmored)..... thats just overpower...
But sounds like fun... a lot of it...

DISCLAIMER: I'm an armorsmith so feel free to dismiss by opinion as biased.
Han didn't wear any armor in the movies (except as a disguise). Neither did Luke, Leia, Chewbacca, etc. etc., except as disguise. They seemed to do okay, didn't they?
Well, guess what? They were the stars of the movie! Ol' George needed them to live to the happy ending. You're not going to find better innate armor than that. Yep, the stormtrooper armor seemed pretty thin. After all, the ewoks were beating them over the head with rocks. But then again, the stormies were the bad guys.
So it's a bad idea to compare what a toon can do in the game to what a character did in the movies. Jedi have a tendency to do that, comparing themselves and their capabilities to what Luke could do.
And although there was a ton of armor in the movies (the clone army ring a bell?), it is all just costuming. The soldiers of the real world wear little armor because there really isn't an system yet that is light, cheap, and most of all, effective enough to provide full body protection. In the Star Wars universe, these limitations have apparently been overcome.
A ranger would use stealth to keep from being seen and shot at at all. He or she is not going to be able to sneak past a energy bolt that is on the way. Rangers will need something more solid than wishful thinking between them and a the business end of a blaster.
